Just got back from Alien Romulus. Overall I enjoyed it, but character wise it was very meh, like I didn’t care when [Spoiler (click to open)]Navarro, Bjorn, Tyler or Kay got killed off nor was I shocked that it happened. This is something that the previous movies have handled way better, like you actually care that Lambert dies because she is a full character.

And then just how did they go there and how did Weyland Yutani not stop them from taking off from the mining planet… or am I to believe that it was all intentional? Because it did not feel like that but more like a plot hole.

But I liked how it looped back to Prometheus.

The whole station seemed like the pinnacle of weyyu tech, so for it to just be there is just super random. Like in Aliens the company did everything to gain access to the xenomorphs, so why the fuck did they just abandon Romulus/remus?

YEAH. All the things they could want or need are on there. I'd buy into it more if it JUST happened. Like the overrun nature of the station was SUPER recent.

The way the movie started, with similar outfits to the salvage team at the opening of Aliens, i was expecting the movie to be about a salvage team who goes around collecting scrap and stuff, and the movie would end with them finding Ripleys escape pod.

I left you an essay reply back on that premiere post lmao (which I have linked for anyone who wants to see my ramblings about how fucking stupid Prometheus made the series, even if after a rewatch I came to appreciate it more - and I like Covenant more, so sue me, r/lv426)

Romulus randomly relied on two Alien movies more than others (except Alien, to which it was a sequel and had to rely on it): Prometheus and Resurrection, even if the director wants to claim the Resurrection connection was incidental and he only realized it after his son pointed it out. If he was THAT big of a fanboy, he'd realize he [Spoiler (click to open)]Ripped off the entire fucking plot of Resurrection minus Clone Ripley - rag tag scavengers show up on a science station where they're experimenting with xenomorphs, station was (romulus)/is being (resurrection) abandoned with them on board, and they have to traverse the station through xenomorph infestations of various types back to their ship, where they find a xenomorph/human or engineer hybrid baby waiting for them which gets sucked out via acid on the hull/window, all the while assisted by a kind AI who can open doors and hack into the station's computer to help them along..

LMAO choosing that one to lift the plot from, hoping nobody remembers it. And turns out, most people don't remember it!

I haven’t watched resurrection in years, I think the last time was when I got the alien quadrilogy on DVD!

I can’t that it is so similar… 🥴

Give it another watch LMAO - it's actually kinda funny (it was written by Joss Whedon even though he later tried to disown it, and it ends up almost looking like a test run for Firefly in all the character archetypes).

Romulus is basically Don't Breathe in space.
