I never watched the final episode, never have and I never will. when I heard what happened I simply refused to.

what they did to Dany was just unforgivable and don't get me started on the other shit they pulled

Funnily enough, I chose self-harm and started rewatching this show. Season 1 was so good, although why are there always so many naked women? Christ.

That was definitely something positive about the later seasons: way less objectification of women and way more women in positions of power.

I once saw an article claim that this is why the show became bad: feminism.

Lol. People. They’re funny.

That's because the actresses had enough clout to say no at that point

I am forever a believer of the 'What we got in the TV show is what we'll get from the books and response was so bad GRRM is just dicking about now' conspiracy theory. There's no other reason for why the books are taking so damn long outside of GRRM being that distracted by sports and cons.

I think that some of the main plot points are accurate to his plan and having a huge global backlash to your story must be incredibly demotivating.

Yeah, I think that things like Bran ending on the throne (or in a similar leadership role) is definitely his plan for the books. Not sure about the Dany stuff, though. Although the implications of her becoming a tyrant are there.

However, the way the story and characters are laid out in the books is very different and I can see it working out way better in written form. They rushed the ending. Two more seasons and it could have worked.

They somehow almost completely ignored the magic and otherworldly forces at work in Asoiaf and the way in which every conflict has consequences. There's going to be a famine in westeros, families broken, whole bloodlines of powerful people wiped out etc. GRRM pays attention to that in his writing and imo the show not caring about that anymore in later seasons is what ultimately broke it. Character assassinations aside.

bran on the throne was my guess way too early in the story and thats why you know grrm is a hack because some stoned college student shouldnt be able to put your shit together like that

The finale felt like a show that didn't know it was ending and they had to write something out of their ass at the spot and not like a show that knew well in advance

I actually think that's true, in a way. The showrunners clearly wanted to wrap it up to leave and do their Star Wars movies (which got canned lmao) so I do feel like they rushed it. They didn't even run out of books like they claim. They adapted like, a single chapter of A Feast for Crows and jumped right to a Dance with Dragons.

Bronn Lord of Highgarden and Jaime and Cersei getting killed by rocks still piss me off, amongst several other things.

I still can't believe Jaime went back to Cersei. Like, I literally cannot believe it, because it does not fit what I remember of his character growth.
