Wow that would not have fit with the tone of the final film. I wonder what else they changed?

Can’t see it being set in Seattle. Hawaii is its own character in the film.

So glad they didn’t go with making it a drama. I don’t think the unused ending would have been horrible, but the ending they went with worked so much better.

Despite its flaws, I always thought this movie was fun.

I like the film too. Can't stand Adam Sandler in most stuff, but I also like The Wedding Singer so I chalk that up to Drew's involvement.

I think the costar/love interest in an Adam Sandler comedy really makes a difference. Drew was able to balance him out, have chemistry with him, and be likable in her own right. The movie where he went back to school (can’t think of the name), his love interest didn't really have a personality aside from being pretty, and had lukewarm chemistry with him. so it comes off as Adam Sandler makes a movie where he gets the pretty girl while speaking in weird voices.

This is very true. Even in the sillier comedies the love interest makes a huge difference. Bridgette Wilson brings nothing in Billy Madison while Julie Bowen is pretty great in Happy Gilmore.

I love this movie, although imagine the horror of her waking up every day and seeing a huge pregnant stomach and having no idea what’s happened. I kinda like this ending more. It sounds cuter and less horrifying to think about.

I think I would have loved it as a drama. The premise is quite sad anyway, and I never thought it was realistic with the two of them on a boat, her waking up pregnant every day and not knowing what's going on, and later having a child.... So much emotional stress, every day, from early in the morning.

Having worked with people post stroke and/or with dementia (and having had dementia in my family)... I'm more of a fan of Naomi Feil's validation. Meeting people where they are.
I know, I know, it's supposed to be a light movie, but the ending never sat right with me.
