So glad they didn’t go with making it a drama. I don’t think the unused ending would have been horrible, but the ending they went with worked so much better.

Despite its flaws, I always thought this movie was fun.

I like the film too. Can't stand Adam Sandler in most stuff, but I also like The Wedding Singer so I chalk that up to Drew's involvement.

I think the costar/love interest in an Adam Sandler comedy really makes a difference. Drew was able to balance him out, have chemistry with him, and be likable in her own right. The movie where he went back to school (can’t think of the name), his love interest didn't really have a personality aside from being pretty, and had lukewarm chemistry with him. so it comes off as Adam Sandler makes a movie where he gets the pretty girl while speaking in weird voices.

This is very true. Even in the sillier comedies the love interest makes a huge difference. Bridgette Wilson brings nothing in Billy Madison while Julie Bowen is pretty great in Happy Gilmore.

Fairuza Balk brings an unhinged energy to Waterboy that also helps.

Drew drastically improves movies with questionable leading men. I really liked that Fever Pitch one with her and Jimmy Fallon too.

ia though the one time it didn't work for me was in Music & Lyrics, I just couldn't buy the relationship between her and Hugh Grant.

Really? For me I could totally buy his washed up old popstar vibe, and when you've had it all and lost it the nice girl who waters plants is appealing as any other.

idk, he just seemed too old for her, and their personality mismatch wasn't the sort of opposites-attract trope I could get into. 🤷

There’s an exception to every rule 🤣 I agree, they had no chemistry it seemed
