You would think her doctor would be more empathetic to what she wanted in regard to her reconstruction JFC.

Especially since I was under the impression that a skilled surgeon can “shape” your breasts to look as natural or artificial as someone wants?

I think that's true if it's just a regular implant but it's probably harder with a reconstruction when you already have scar tissue.

Seriously. He basically said "yeah, we're going to do a bad job and make you look fake"??

I remember when Angelina Jolie did the same and people (read: scummy men) were lamenting the loss of her old boobs despite it essentially saving her life.

So rest assured, whether people forget or not, the gross comments about your body will come anyway.

I remember people having the worst takes on her decision to have surgery. It was infuriating.

It's so fucked. They're all, "aww it's a shame. Those were some nice tits" or if the woman opts for implants, "Her boobs look fake now. It's a botched boob job". There's no "winning" with these assholes either way.

I hate men.

the only way to win is to die perfect and untouched, because then they can blame death for being the reason they never fucked you.

I unfortunately know multiple women who have had mastectomies (including my big sister who passed away 8 years ago) and I don't judge anyone for their choice to do reconstruction or not. While our womanhood is not dependent on our breast size, we are so often socialized to believe that to be true.

I wish her the best in her recovery.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My big sister passed away from ovarian cancer 2 1/2 years ago.
