For such an apolitical event, it's sure becoming very political. (And yeah I know it always has been really, but it's finally REALLY showing its ass)

Also something very Hunger-Games-dystopia about an expensive glorified singing contest where a contestant represents a country actively commiting genocide. Just abolish Eurovision at this point, the whole thing feels crazy corrupt.

Any illusion it was apolitical went with banning Russia, this year just showed it's whole ass. I don't know what the answer is, but something has got to change.

Banning Russia but not Israel is insane to me. Maybe now the ICC is applying for arrest warrants for Netanyahu it might change, but I'm not holding my breath

Speaking of Slovenia, I'm really disappointed I never saw anything supporting Palestine from Konstrakta. She's normally outspoken about social and political things so it makes me wonder if she's on the wrong side of history here 🫤

the EU pretty much accused the EBU of treason

The European Broadcasting Union’s decision to ban EU flags during Saturday’s Eurovision final was a gift to “the enemies of Europe,” Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas said.

Schinas told Playbook: “I cannot find the logical explanation for why the EBU is doing this. And what does this serve?”

“Less than a month from the European elections, who wins from banning the EU flag from Eurovision?” the commissioner added. “Only the Euroskeptics and the enemies of Europe.”

That was a very odd choice. Still not sure what they were doing there. I wondered if the EU had pissed off "Israel".

The EU flag was heavily featured in Netherlands video (not sure about the stage performance)

It needs a whole overhaul from the inside out. Eurovision is one of my fave nights of the year, and it was ruined this year. It should be cheesy camp pop with vaguely humerous neighbourly voting blocs, not this shite.

I laughed because even after all of their manipulative BS they STILL lost!

the way they dubbed over the booing like people wouldn't be filming from their seats...
