Does anyone else have trouble listening to podcasts or audiobooks? :( So many I think I'd listen to but if I don't have a visual via video or physical book/screen, my brain retains no information and I zone out.

I used to have this problem but I found doing a puzzle or playing a game (https://www.bubbleshooter.net/bubbles-2/) really helped me focus. Now that it's been a few years I'm much better at it and can listen while I go on walks.

This is good to hear, because my first thought was is this going to be like some shitty exploitative true crime thing.

I know we'll never fully get a 100% tide-turn in part because of how vicious the bot campaign was, but I feel like in general people have at least settled into "I dunno... they both suck?" default which is certainly better than it was.

"They both suck but Amber is worse" is always the thing I see from the both-sideism people. Not good enough, imo.

My team leader at the time (28 yo man) tried the “they both suck” thing on me and I just schooled him. After I finished lecturing him on all the actual facts - thanks in no small part to thirteenarrows’ amazing court room reportage - he was like, “Oh wow, I had no idea about all that.”

That’s right, Gabriel. You had no idea, and yet you still ventured forth with an opinion.

(Sidenote: I’ve forgotten how to tag lj users.)

I'm glad he listened to you. Obviously, no one is under any obligation to read all the court documents about this case and keep track of all of the facts, but I feel like, if you're going to express an opinion on such a sensitive subject matter, you should at least investigate a little? idk, I've just seen waaaaay too many people running their mouths and repeating the same fabricated lies over and over and it's very annoying and exhausting.

The use of bots on social media is just wild. I said something with a certain key word and instantly had (like, by instant I mean within 10 seconds of posting) several "accounts" responding with certain key words and accusations, specifically about "grooming" in the LGBTQIA community. None of the accounts were real, but it seemed like, to the casual eye, tons of real people were saying almost identical things in response to me. Bot campaigns seem really insidious to me, especially when you follow WHO is funding them and why.

We're so f*cked in terms of web/cyber security with AI and bots now. So f*cked.

In many ways the "AI is coming for your jobs!!" thing is almost a distraction to the real threats.

I'm getting this with commenting on anything to do with "Israel" on YouTube at the moment. There's are clone comments by a bunch of different accounts.

This sounds interesting but 6 episodes sounds excessive

Ha, I was discussing this with someone earlier and thought 6 episodes was too short. They're only 30mins including ads.
In ep one they brief the investigation and talk with Amber's lawyer in the UK case.
In ep two they travel to the US to speak with a social media forensic expert who testified in the US case.
