I know we'll never fully get a 100% tide-turn in part because of how vicious the bot campaign was, but I feel like in general people have at least settled into "I dunno... they both suck?" default which is certainly better than it was.

"They both suck but Amber is worse" is always the thing I see from the both-sideism people. Not good enough, imo.

My team leader at the time (28 yo man) tried the “they both suck” thing on me and I just schooled him. After I finished lecturing him on all the actual facts - thanks in no small part to thirteenarrows’ amazing court room reportage - he was like, “Oh wow, I had no idea about all that.”

That’s right, Gabriel. You had no idea, and yet you still ventured forth with an opinion.

(Sidenote: I’ve forgotten how to tag lj users.)

I'm glad he listened to you. Obviously, no one is under any obligation to read all the court documents about this case and keep track of all of the facts, but I feel like, if you're going to express an opinion on such a sensitive subject matter, you should at least investigate a little? idk, I've just seen waaaaay too many people running their mouths and repeating the same fabricated lies over and over and it's very annoying and exhausting.

Right? If you don’t know / don’t care, it’s easy to just say nothing.

It's certainly not easy for most men, let's be honest lol

The same. I used her amazing reports against one of our temporary workers that we had that was raving about Johnny-Crap-His-Pants because he wasn't in the Harry Potter Movies. Boy, he got quiet quick after I share some facts.

I love that we are out there lecturing people on things that we learned on a pop culture website (that is more accurate than any news source)!

I know, right! My mom asked where I hear all of this stuff. I just say the internet but we all know where we get our knowledge from.

It drives me fucking crazy when people defend abusers without any knowledge of the situation. Someone at a party tried to defend Polanski to me but had no idea that his victim was a child and drugged!! He shut up real quick.

My god, what an idiot. Were they saying it was okay before because they thought his victim was a consenting adult? I don’t know how you can look at Polanski’s history and think that he was wronged (but I guess Hollywood does a great job of absolving abusers sooooo)

He was trying to claim that she had forgiven him or consented or something so we should all get over it. He knew literally nothing about the situation but just had to voice his opinion.

Polanski is one of the clearest rape cases of all time: she was underage, she was drugged, she said no, she resisted physically and he admitted it in fucking court. And if you wanna know exactly what he has admitted to the victim's testimoney has been easily accessible online for the past 22 years. Fuck people who still defend that piece of shit.
