The fact he’s pro intimacy coordinators and the fact he brought it up himself makes me think he’s telling the truth - or he’s insanely stupid

yeah this is a wild ride of an anecdote... his train has pulled into the right station but what a bizarre route it took to get there

I just listened to a interview with him for a TD podcast and he came off as a straight shooter but also lacking awareness (or care?) that what he was saying could portray him very negatively even if honest.

So its a 50/50 on the either/or

It would be more questionable without the context, but he's using it as an example to argue in favour of IC and it's probably the most based take on the topic I've read from an older male actor in ages. I think the whole interview is worth a read and puts it well into perspective here. Especially the bit about the IC saying "I'm here for you, too" hits hard when you keep in mind the mental health struggles he talked about in the past years.

wondering how long it will take for people to narrow it down who it was....

he had a sex scene with Kate Winslet in a 1996 movie called Jude 👀

idk it's weird like, people will just do the math looking at his filmography and there's not a lot of A list actresses he's had sex scenes with sooooo saying something like this... it's either the whole truth or he's a nasty piece of work that's so confident he won't be caught being a piece of shit

Kate wasn’t that A-list yet? although she had her first Oscar nod for Sense & Sensibility by that time and it’s 2 years before Titanic which her breakthrough.

He may have meant it as "now A list"

He mentioned it being an abuse of power though so I’m assuming, if true, she was A-list at the time?

Interesting situation. Either he’s telling the truth cause actors can be terrible to their actors (although till now I haven’t heard an actress do this type of thing tbf 👀) or he’s being sneaky 👀.

Up to now I haven’t heard issues about him and I guess if he was guilty some rumors maybe would’ve been spread somewhere?

Interesting he brings up Nicole cause they were in The Others together but he only has scenes with her in that movie iirc.

it could also be that he is telling the truth as he sees it, and the actress would tell a different story if asked while also being honest… like maybe he was really accused of copping a feel when he wasn’t but the actress did feel uncomfortable. either way i guess we all agree that it’s a situation that demonstrates the value of intimacy coordinators!

This might be the most likely story. Things are rarely black and white. He might have thought he was acting appropriately based on the requirements for a sex scene and she might think he was doing too much. Every actor has said these are awkward scenes to film, wouldn’t be surprised if there were some miscommunication. Plus it sounded like they had a bad relationship so I doubt either of them assumed positive intent.

Baffles me that if "every actor has said these are awkward scenes to film," why do audiences keep pushing for more sex scenes? If you want actors to feel awkward to simulate sex or intimacy for you, there's something wrong with you, not with cinema.
