this is interesting that he says it was an 'abuse of power' when clearly he didn't get thrown off the set or face any repercussions so what does he think the power she had was? maybe he just wasn't aware that whatever he was doing in the scene was making her uncomfortable, so i'm glad he's pro-intimacy coordinators now.

yeah, like if he was able to talk his way out of it (which he would have had to do if there wasn't someone acting as an intimacy coordinator would and carefully monitoring everything etc) or only faced social consequences then who really had the power in that situation?

Idk, I think having a personal dislike of someone lower on the totem pole but falsely claiming they sexually harassed/assaulted you in order to get them in trouble or booted is an abuse of power. The abuse isn't in the follow-up from other people, but in the initial attempt by the A-lister.

But if nobody did anything about it then she didn’t actually have any power to abuse is more what I’m saying. We all know how much shit the industry lets slide, and especially before the Weinstein stuff. So it seems more likely to me an actress would only say something if she was actually uncomfortable, knowing she probably wouldn’t be taken that seriously, even if she was A-list.

i think he's telling the truth but also 'she didn't like me' - why? did you just assume bc of this situation? and 'implied' - what kind of implication? was it directly at you? and the fact that there was no escalation of the situation makes it all sound like a miscommunication issue that was resolved where she was uncomfortable. but he took it personally.

I think he's saying that there was no public escalation of it, but it could have very well escalated on that set and with the director and so on. We don't know unfortunately though.

I would sooner have put my hands in a food blender than copped a feel of that person. It was an abuse of power

The irony in this... Like, people don't always cop a feel simply because they're into someone. They're doing it to exert power and intimidate. So while I have no thoughts whatsoever on his situation in particular, claiming "I wouldn't do it because I wasn't into them" isn't a good excuse.

Yeah I don't like how he put that. You shouldn't only be averse to "copping a feel" because you don't like this particular person, you just shouldn't do it because it's obviously wrong.

Yep. My grandmother was sexually assaulted in the 70's by a gay actor. He thought it was funny.

I think he repeats the 'copped a feel' part because that's what he's expressing the original accusation was? He could be quoting or he could be paraphrasing it.

I also don't get that he's necessarily saying he's SUPER not into them as the rationale for why he wouldn't have done what he was accused of. He could be saying 'I'd rather purée my hands than be a skeevy unprofessional who uses a work environment to catch their jollies and menace a colleague.' Not being an apologist, just looking at how this quote might've played out (and hoping for better).

I love him but he could have edited out everything aside from supporting intimacy coordinators.

My first thought was Renee Zellweger in "A Price Above Rubies" which was 1998 and after Jerry Maguire.
