this is interesting that he says it was an 'abuse of power' when clearly he didn't get thrown off the set or face any repercussions so what does he think the power she had was? maybe he just wasn't aware that whatever he was doing in the scene was making her uncomfortable, so i'm glad he's pro-intimacy coordinators now.

yeah, like if he was able to talk his way out of it (which he would have had to do if there wasn't someone acting as an intimacy coordinator would and carefully monitoring everything etc) or only faced social consequences then who really had the power in that situation?

Idk, I think having a personal dislike of someone lower on the totem pole but falsely claiming they sexually harassed/assaulted you in order to get them in trouble or booted is an abuse of power. The abuse isn't in the follow-up from other people, but in the initial attempt by the A-lister.

But if nobody did anything about it then she didn’t actually have any power to abuse is more what I’m saying. We all know how much shit the industry lets slide, and especially before the Weinstein stuff. So it seems more likely to me an actress would only say something if she was actually uncomfortable, knowing she probably wouldn’t be taken that seriously, even if she was A-list.

I see what you're saying, I just think the attempt being stopped doesn't mean the abuse of power never happened or that she didn't have any power in the first place. For example, if your boss tells you to run some personal errands that's way outside the scope of your job and you refuse, they still abused their power over you even if it didn't turn out the way they wanted. That being said, his story has so little detail that there's no telling what happened after the accusation. Was it reported to the higher-ups or squashed on set? Was there a witness that immediately refuted her? Just because he ultimately stayed on the movie doesn't mean there wasn't some kind of investigation or reprimand and there's still the word-of-mouth factor of just making the accusation on set and relying on the whisper network to tarnish his reputation and jeopardize future jobs.

In her head she could've thought she had. People who have inflated egos aren't necessarily realistic about how important/influential/powerful they really are.

ehhhh. not necessarily. it read very much to me, as a "I'm going to put you back in your place" sort of public embarrassment.
