"My doctor had given it to me and said 'oh if you ever want to lose a couple pounds in a week..."

What a fucking shit doctor. She doesn't even have a weight problem?

So you just don't read things? And you just randomly inject stuff into your body without looking into what it is? Noted.

Yeah, it's her, and it's believable. She has done so many drugs and has admitted to using them recreationally and unprescribed. But I do believe she didn't know because she really doesn't know what she takes sometimes. Her being so honest was surprising since everyone these days wants to deny they ever used that medication.

That is wild to me! Must be like a Gen X thing bc if I get prescribed something, I am looking it up and watching YouTube videos about it lol

My friend has diabetes and she can't get the meds that help her A1C stay low because everyone is using it to lose weight. It's really fucked up.

There’s a global shortage - I’ve read several articles about it in Australian news in the past month or so.

There’s a vegan guy who’s some kind of doctor (maybe not MD? I dunno) I follow on Instagram who’s usually super sensible about stuff and he made a story the other day talking about how great it was that people could take Ozempic to lose weight and it really soured me on him. I mean, I get that people with obesity need help, but people with diabetes need this stuff to STAY ALIVE, and most of the ones taking it for weight loss and causing the shortage seem to not even be in any kind of life threatening stage of obesity - they just want to lose 10kg so they can fit into a smaller size.

Oh my fucking God. No people who are diabetic don’t need Ozempic to STAY ALIVE.

This fatphobic lie needs to stop.

Do you genuinally think that diabetics died before 2012?

The ONLY medication that keeps diabetics alive is insulin.

T2 in particular is controlled with diet and exercise. Same as obesity.

Can we stop blaming individuals for this company’s inability to produce the drug in enough measures people need it?

Oh, get off your high horse. I am almost certainly fatter than you are, and it’s not fucking fatphobic to think that a drug for diabetics should be going to diabetics before it goes to celebs, influencers and the various idiots who hang off their every word. It doesn’t mean I don’t want overweight people who need help yo get it, so stop putting words in my mouth.

If there’s no issues with the shortage then why are people bothering to talk about it, and why would people with diabetes be so upset about it? Are they all fatphobic too? Jesus Christ.

it sucks how popular this drug has become, there is an outage of it in Finland going on and some diabetics who already had a prescription for it can't get it because there is none left.
