I'm still laughing over the last post getting over 400 comments. Like, of all the things to spring ONTD back into action in this the year of our Lord 2022, Henry Cavill being replaced by the lesser Hemsworth in the Witcher show no one seems to like anyway. Amazing.
I think more people watched and liked it that weren't in previous posts. I know that if something I like is in a post and people are dogpiling negatively I don't even bother commenting, and I'd imagine a lot of people are the same.
I can see that. There were a lot of little bits of the story I liked but I don't even read the books or play the games and even I knew some choices were made.
But if it's true the writers don't seem to even like the source material why are they even here? Even if you don't like it, at the very least you have the story right there and a main star who's a fan. Easy peasy.
Especially since he's such a fan that he's practically a walking encyclopedia. Why the hell would you not take advantage of that as a writer? Fans want to see the story canonically play out; what they don't want is the showrunners' fanfic version of it when it's the first live-action iteration of it all. Shit, I know nothing about the video games or the books so I'm definitely within the show's target audience and even I could tell the writing was off.
Omg, did they learn nothing from GOT?? At least GOT had the sense to start pulling that shit in later seasons when they started running out of books to adapt. Season 2 is too early to start messing with the lore; no wonder people are pissed.
