But the show is bad, it should've been a fun monster-of-the-week show with just a bit of the bigger plot in the background. The monster/creature lore in the game is so interesting, I would've liked lots more of that. I didn't need another dodgy GoT ripoff.
I think you nailed it. All the networks want their own GoT cash cow and instead of leaning into what makes these other series great - both The Witcher and Ring of Power imo - they ruin it by trying to make it GoT-lite
100%. As always, being unique and leaning into what makes you special is the way to go.
My favourite fantasy books were ripped off by GRRM for GoT and I'm kinda suprised no one has tried to adapt them yet. Glad they're not though, they'd definitely do it badly!
I can't believe I'm saying this but honestly, good for him. It would really suck it be super passionate about a book series to only find out that the literal writers of the show you're on (that is based on the books) are just being dicks about the source material.
As sad as I am to see him go, if this is all true, I don't blame him for leaving at all. Whether you're the lead actor, a writer, a crew member, or work in a McDonald's, if your job isn't making you happy and it isn't what you expected then leave (if you're able to.)
I did not like the direction of season 2 at all. The first episode was the best and I wish the rest of the season was more like that. It also didn't help that the actress playing Ciri went from looking 12 to close to 30. It made the casting choice of Yennifer look even worse although Anya is the strongest actor on the show.
It sucks when people don't respect the source material and make changes for the worse rather than for the better. Lot of the choices they made in season just did not make sense at all.
sad that the first episode was literally the best one. When I watched S2 and saw the first ep, I was like "hum, okay, it's a start" and then it just got worse and worse. they totally abandoned their monster of the week formula way too soon and acted like we knew these characters better than we did. It's like they thought they were in S5 when it was really S2.
Every new episode of season 2 got worse than the one before. At the end I couldn’t even take it seriously. The only reason I liked it was because of Cavill.

Like another poster said, this series worked best as a fun and campy monster of the week.
