I was just watching a video about the Pulse shooting from a group in Orlando who were nearby from 2016 and....really, what has changed? Gun enthusiasts defending their "rights" with "Well, actually, it takes a lot of money nad permits to get a semi-automatic rifle" (yet it's still somehow too easy.)

It 100% is. I was just reading an article yesterday about that dude who walked into a hospital in Tulsa and killed 4 people. He did this with an AR-15 he bought THAT SAME FUCKING DAY. It took less than 24 hours for him to buy a weapon capable of shooting bullets in rapid succession and used it immediately.

I had a patient threaten to shoot me a few years ago; he told my colleague, “if i had a gun right now I’d shoot her.” we had to dismiss him from the practice, and had undercover police in the waiting room the day of his last scheduled appointment. It was incredibly disheartening and scary when i was 100% in the right; a lot of patients just have unrealistic expectations and lash out blaming the doctor for their ailments and years of neglect (which thanks American insurance companies).

I guess i feel lucky he didn’t think to go buy an ar-15 b/c clearly it would have been a piece of cake… sigh.

I was like 'him???' but Uvalde is his hometown so that makes sense.

I hope things are different this time, but I won't hold my breath.
