I get the sentiment but then again, neutrality doesn't change shit. But do you, both things work, I guess.

I really admire the person in this story who chooses to speak out very vocally about controversial topics but not the one who waits 9 years to quietly pretend she wasn't the golden girl of white assholes.

Seriously, call me when Taylor tries to explain why she attempted to sue people who said she should say something if she didn't want to be associated with white assholes. 💅

yiiiikes. i'm disappointed that she didn't beat them. they also made it easy to fool them, i could have ranked albums and talked about her cat based on ontd posts alone.

This

Jameela can annoy me sometimes but this really resonated with me. I know some people will still knock her but I really appreciated her point.

same. i wanna be able to go to the beach and wear a bikini and not feel self-conscious. i wanna be able to sit down and actually be present in conversations without thinking about if my stomach is rolling in that position. i want to be able to go to family gatherings where all the auntie-types point out that you gained weight and just not give a fuck. I avoid so many things and not get to live my life because of my body, compulsory femininity and internalized misogyny (which are separate rants).

Jameela has at least experienced having a marginalized body, even if it’s currently socially acceptable. That kind of thing never leaves you, even if you become hot af and a TV star

I think taylor has talked about her problems with dieting and thinking about food and her body all the time too

I'll never forget that story from her old guitar teacher about how the mom would deny taylor food and remind her "nobody likes a fat popstar" 💀

I like that Taylor's using her platform to bring more attention to Jameela's work, as opposed to just using it as a talking point.
