Jameela can annoy me sometimes but this really resonated with me. I know some people will still knock her but I really appreciated her point.

same. i wanna be able to go to the beach and wear a bikini and not feel self-conscious. i wanna be able to sit down and actually be present in conversations without thinking about if my stomach is rolling in that position. i want to be able to go to family gatherings where all the auntie-types point out that you gained weight and just not give a fuck. I avoid so many things and not get to live my life because of my body, compulsory femininity and internalized misogyny (which are separate rants).

Ignoring my body and not really thinking about it is the only way I’ve ever made strides in my physical health and bulimia recovery. I’m so happy for women who have discussions about embracing their body and loving it but that kind of attention has never lead me anywhere good

Same. Ignoring my body has been the only way I’ve been able to move forward into recovery tbh. :(
