I don't care for Downton at all but I'm so happy for it's success. I'm pretty much team "anything but fucking Disney" at this point.

Also two cute things about it's box office: 1) biggest ever weekend opening for Focus Features!!! 2) apparently it's showings after 8 pm are totally tanking because that's the bedtime for it's core audience. LOL. Go cute little old ladies though!

omg that second thing is kind of wholesome and cute lol

i went at 7:30 on thursday and it was like 35 mostly old ladies and some old men, me, and this guy who had to be in his 20s or early 30s in a trucker hat looking like he should’ve been at rambo last blood instead but it was kinda cute he was there to see it

I went to see Downton Abbey in my tiny hometown and there was 5 o'clock tea served at the theater before and some older ladies were dressed in gowns and little hats it was adorable

#Goldfinch will quickly be finishing up one of this year's most disastrous runs for a wide release. 71% tumble in its 2nd wknd and a puny screen avg of $303, or about 3 people per show! On track to end run with about $5M - lowest total of any film playing in 2500+ thtrs this yr.

I went to see Ad Astra yesterday (keep it tbh) and when I was walking out there was a group of four older ladies dressed in full Downton Abbey period clothing waiting in line go in to see it. Everyone was taking pictures with them.

I saw Hustlers and I fucking loved it. I think that if the script was a touch tighter that this would be a classic but as it is it's funny wicked, amazing, boundary breaking etc. I went in thinking this was a straight heist movie and was so touched to see it was a movie about friendship and sisterhood. Also how amazing to see two woc of different ethniticities (both over 30!) shown as colleagues and friends???

Honestly the whole thing was 100% heightened by the two lead performances. Jlo was legit fantastic. Like she really brought her dancing experience to the forefront because the way she strutted and moved told you everything about that character. I saw some people saying that Constance did nothing here and I couldn't disagree more. She really sells the boring inset convos between her character and the journalist. You can feel the love, pain, jealousy and anguish when she's talking about Ramona especially when she's desperate to know what Ramona has been saying about her.

God and that final moment when we see Ramona [Spoiler (click to open)]and how ... )

Yeah ia about Constance. I felt she really sold the “present” scenes but in the past scenes especially in the club at the beginning imo she felt a little out of place, but that may have been an intentional choice to heighten her newness. She just didn’t come off as someone with a ton of sex appeal imo

I think that's the point? She's really bad at this. Like she does it out of necessity truly whereas Ramona THRIVES in it. All she does is dance at the beginning for the creepy CEO. Everything else she's basically Ramona's business partner.

I think the movie scripted it well. She was never a great dancer. She was lucky to be one of Ramona's charity cases.

Yeah, Ad Astra is the kind of movie I love, but I just can’t even look at Brad Pitt’s face these days and then manpain and daddy issues on top of it? NOPE.
