#Goldfinch will quickly be finishing up one of this year's most disastrous runs for a wide release. 71% tumble in its 2nd wknd and a puny screen avg of $303, or about 3 people per show! On track to end run with about $5M - lowest total of any film playing in 2500+ thtrs this yr.

I guess Mom's had better things to do this week. Good for them!

lmao fuck @ 3 people per show. It was pretty crowded when I saw it opening weekend! And I still really liked it. :(

I wonder if it would've done better with better reviews. Because the marketing sucked from the beginning and it's already a tough film to sell.

A little better but people still wouldn’t have cared. It had no appeal for anyone.

I feel like the book has a pretty big following, but they barely promoted it anywhere.

lol I saw it (for free) and it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't great either.

It should have been a (linear!) miniseries.

i havent seen it yet but telling it in a non linear fashion is so fucking weird considering how the book is told.

It was super weird, especially because the choices they made of when/where to flashback and forward was choppy and awkward. It very much felt to me like the producers freaked out and thought "Okay, there's not enough action, audiences will be bored. What can we do to make it more flashy? I know, write all the major plot points on cue cards, toss em in the air, pick them up at random and edit them in that order!"

I thought it might have confused audiences but I saw it with my mom and she seemed to get it okay but it was... very odd.

Like honestly if they just told the story in a linear way I don't think it would have gotten rave reviews but the reviews would have been kinder and maybe it would have bombed slightly less. Still this was never going to be a huge box office hit so I legit don't know if there was any way to save it financially per se.
