Moulin rouge is my fave movie and tbh the show did not disappoint at all. I loved how theatrical it was. Also I just want Aaron to sing any and all pop songs. One gripe I had about MR was that they sang "Your Song" too much. I wish each song was longer (esp "Come What May") and that they didn't have as many medleys. But I still love it so whatever I guess.

I was listening to the Broadway cast recording this morning and was surprised how many medleys there are.

Oh man, I was the opposite. After seeing the show all I wanted to do was go home and watch the movie.

It sounds like it should be sung in a High School Musical movie lol.

I watched the Boston production twice and saw it in Broadway this past summer during previews and I'm fuming at the OBCR of this song. They added some unnecessary reverb and it does not work at all. In the show it sounds a lot of passionate and raw and like this recording is super underwhelming.

YES. I was suprised how underwhelmed I was by the OCBR. Roxanne in the show gave me chills, watched it 4x this summer.

Katrina Lenk isn’t an obvious choice for Bobbie but she’s a great actress and I’m sure she will do a good job. I’m mostly just happy they finally announced it.

Moby Dick tickets are now on sale and I am heavily tempted to move my trip back so I see it. Downside is Boston is expensive and I don’t do well in the cold.

Not gonna lie, initially I was put off by Katrina Lenk's casting because she seems too self assured to be Bobbie, but hey, I guess that's why they call it acting. She has a great voice, and I can't wait to see it!

Ugh, I am d y i n g to see Moby Dick, but the only way I could make it work would be to go to Boston before or after I visit my family in PA at Christmas and I don't want to try to figure out those logistics, especially in fucking December!! I think I am gonna suck it up and wait for a transfer to NYC.

I think there is enough demand that it should come to NY soon. I know it was previously being co-produced by the Public and Berkeley Rep but it’s premiering at ART so who know if that is still true. Dave Malloy does have his Signature Residency but idk if this would count.

i'm personally starting to get annoyed with this 'minimalist' theater, where it's essentially one or a few actors just walking around on a nearly-empty stage and telling a story. sea wall/ a life is NOT a play, it's two monologues from two guys just standing there for 45 minutes at a time.

i just saw betrayal and it's three british actors, two chairs, occasional booze and a random table at the end. and they're just talking to each other on an empty stage, telling their story. it feels like a cheat and ripoff because when you're paying those prices (or even discounted tix like i get) you want more than just 'actors walking around in space and talking to each other'. that's not a fucking play

fucking $10 production values what the fuck

Production values aside (and I get what you're saying, the minimalist stuff gets kind of old after a while), what did you think of Betrayal? I'm most excited for this fellow:

charlie was my favorite out of it (and also beautiful in real life). the story itself was fine but nothing amazing or groundbreaking about it. i couldn't get over tom hiddleston's receding hairline lmao, it's so distracting

and naw, nothing's grabbing my attention at the moment
