i'm personally starting to get annoyed with this 'minimalist' theater, where it's essentially one or a few actors just walking around on a nearly-empty stage and telling a story. sea wall/ a life is NOT a play, it's two monologues from two guys just standing there for 45 minutes at a time.

i just saw betrayal and it's three british actors, two chairs, occasional booze and a random table at the end. and they're just talking to each other on an empty stage, telling their story. it feels like a cheat and ripoff because when you're paying those prices (or even discounted tix like i get) you want more than just 'actors walking around in space and talking to each other'. that's not a fucking play

fucking $10 production values what the fuck

Production values aside (and I get what you're saying, the minimalist stuff gets kind of old after a while), what did you think of Betrayal? I'm most excited for this fellow:

charlie was my favorite out of it (and also beautiful in real life). the story itself was fine but nothing amazing or groundbreaking about it. i couldn't get over tom hiddleston's receding hairline lmao, it's so distracting

and naw, nothing's grabbing my attention at the moment

...i'm a fan of minimalist sets. the actors have nothing to hide behind because the entire focus is on their performance and their craft.

i can understand that, but at a point it just looks like nothing bit random monologue/dialogues and it's just so uninteresting. i need more action than that
