Wow, I remember someone linking to the buzzfeed article awhile back, I had no idea they were making this a doc.

I used to love true crime but then I met a girl who was actually involved in one of those true crime stories and it turned my stomach for a bit. I still don't really watch true crime shows but I do hope I can get it together to see this because it sounds really interesting.

Sometimes I'm watching the ID Channel and I realize how fucked up this all is. Finding entertainment in people being brutally murdered? It's so disturbing

This is why I left the My Favorite Murder podcast and facebook group. The people in there were way to gleefully to talk abotu horrific murders with smiley emojis and expclamation points. It was really gross.

I listened to one ep of that podcast and just couldn't do it anymore. I am fascinated by true crime and I'm usually pretty detached, but I like watching and listening to shows that treat things seriously and not turn it into a damn joke.

Thank you for reminding me OP to go back to reading the Buzzfeed post about this! I never got around to finishing it but it sounded nuts

I can't check bc it's not available in my area, but if it's the same film, Newtown is also on Netflix

I felt a little... eh about it. I appreciate that they didn't spend some on the shooter at all, and focused on the families, but I also felt like there wasn't a whole lot to it. The whole gun lobby thing was infuriating as it always is. I guess I just didn't find it very fleshed out.

I saw Newtown screen at a film festival last year and one of the fathers was there with the director and editor. It was intense.
