Those of you who know me well know that I frequently boast that I never get sick. This is true. Only once in my adult life have I been sick enough to miss work; I had a fever so high I was hallucinating, and I went to work anyway, only they sent me home. Had a minor tragedy this morning. I arrived at Music a few minutes early, so I bought myself a fruit juice and went to sit out front, smokin’ and readin’, ‘til it was time for work.

Okay. I quit driving several years ago. In part this was a financial decision; it’s expensive to drive these days. But also I was making an effort to be responsible. It had finally occurred to me that alcoholics probably shouldn’t have cars.
