This week I did a stupid. I played Solitaire several times for hours at a time (whilst IMing and checking LJ and eating and watching TV all at once). I wanted to shut off my feelings, and I succeeded. I have injured my wrists as a result. This *sucks* as it means I have to do less weight-lifting. Do Transplash offer any kind of buddy system, where you can meet one of the organisers or a friendly face in advance, and go in with them? I know a lot of LGB groups do that, so it seems like the sort of thing you could ask about.

Good luck if you decide to try!

Thanks, but thinking about it I don't really see the point of going. I'm comfortable enough swimming in other situations, and Transplash and the like is designed for people who don't have anywhere else to swim really. Other FtMs (in numbers greater than one or two) make me nervous. I think I'd be best off finding swimming pools with mixed changing areas.

Personally I don't like real-life FTM groups (or online ones, for that matter, for the same reason), as they seem full of people who have nothing in their lives except for transition... but YMMV.

Yeah, I get what you mean.

I like the online ones, but mostly because I can dip in and out of them as needed. I wrote a post about choosing a surgeon just now.
