the receptionist was talking rubbish ... you don't even have to explain why you need to see the doctor to the receptionist (wonder if the word "confidentiality" means anything to her?) and mh stuff certainly does count as an emergency if *you* consider it an emergency. the consequences of coming off meds suddenly because you can't get a prescription could be fairly dire after all.

glad you got an appointment in the end ... if you get the same problem again, just tell the receptionist it's an emergency, and if they ask you what the emergency is, say you'd prefer to discuss it with the doctor directly. it's none of their business, and they can't refuse to book you an appointment if you don't tell them (they might try, but they can't ...)

*"accidentally" traps arsey receptionist's thumb in the stapler* mwahahahahaha

*hugs*

I really don't know what I could've done... I was so anxious through the whole process that I could barely speak for much of the time. I was therefore quite easy to push around. I think I will speak to the doctor about it when I see her. The receptionist said something like "can I ask you why you left it so long to make an appointment" (the answer being that a) I feel really anxious about dealing with the system at the doctor's surgery, so procrastinate somewhat and b) I'm only taking half a tablet a day b/c I am really sensitive to some meds and they therefore lasted me ages but became 'past medication' instead of 'current medication').

Thanks for being supportive though Becks :-)

i hate the new appointments system - it really doesn't work very well for people with mental health problems imo. speaking to the doctor about the receptionist is a good idea, definitely.

sorry if i made it sound like "just do xyz" like it's really easy, i know it's not - horrible reception-dictators have reduced me to tears on several occasions :o/ i don't know how it is that they're all so mean ... maybe there's a special training course? "how to meet the surgery's targets by upsetting as many patients as possible so they think twice before coming back"

see you tomorrow at bifest :o)
