I just did something really dumb at work

I accidentally BCCed a large mailing list when replying to an email someone had sent answering my question.

Can you say "prepare to be flamed"? :P

At least I learned my lesson though, and some of the non-flaming replies were actually helpful in terms of what I could do to avoid spamming the list other than by BCCing it.

Oh dear, you remind me of this one time I wanted to forward an email to my brother (it were some Greek files my teacher had sent to me and all of my classmates), in which I said: "Print this. Two-sided, long edge binding. Bitte." He would of course be able to read my love for him bewteen the lines, but when he didn't receive the message, I checked my sent-box, and noticed that I had sent my reply to all of my classmates, my teacher included. O.o I could not have been more embarassed.

Glad some of your replies were helpful though :)

After seeing quite a number of people committing this faux pas on mailing lists I'm subscribed to without being flamed, I wondered if people were immune to this sort of thing. I'm glad to see there are still people who know basic etiquette and are helpful enough to advise others about it.

Having said that, the Reply button can be rather dangerous when one isn't sure if the reply is being sent back to the mailing list or only one particular person. It's a mistake I worry about committing too =p

The one other worse thing (or just as bad) to do in a large mailing list is to send an IRM mail. >o
