"Alright, SO," Derek said as Anora and he made their way into the Great Hall, "here's the plan. I was talking to Anya, right? And it occurred to me that what we need to do, is start taking resumes for blokes that want to date her. Except," he clarified quickly, "obviously not REAL resumes. Or blokes. We'll just write these horrible letters and forward them to the twins and claim that we need help sorting through all the applicants because there are just too many."
How better to horrify Darin and Taylor? Derek, for one, thought it would work quite well for his purposes.
Re: Thursday, Oct. 19th - Dinneranora_beeDecember 6 2007, 06:19:25 UTC
Anora plunked herself down next to Derek and listened intently to this plan. Upon hearing the full detail of its majesty, she burst out laughing. "That..is GENIUS," she said with a wicked grin. Not to mention, they would have a blast writing them. "Yes! And we can just say they had to remain anonymous so that there weren't any preconceived ideas, and that the innocent random blokes don't start getting hate mail from them. OH man, we can make them so pretentious, too. Or incredibly nerdy. Taylor would hate the thought of a total lameoid dating his sister." She knew this mostly because of the countless occasions they had spent sitting in the library setting piles of books to go toppling on these certain type of individuals heads.
"Oh, this will be simply brilliant," she kept the same grin and started filling it with all sorts of delicious dinner-y foods.
Re: Thursday, Oct. 19th - Dinnerderek_blyDecember 6 2007, 06:49:37 UTC
"Exactly!" Derek grinned. He knew Anora would appreciate the simple effectiveness of the plan. And she was just the person to help- would have been even if they hadn't already agreed that some DeLouise pranking needed to be done. "The more outrageous the better, really. Even if they don't believe us, they'll still be horrified," he nodded seriously, starting to dish himself food. They'd probably have just as much fun writing the things as getting the inevitable response which made the whole thing even better.
"YES. They'll hate nerdy. Pretentious too. Maybe throw in a few obvious Slytherin cliques and stalker Puffs?" This would be fun. "And you know we can just keep writing them for the next few weeks. Get an entire STACK of them send."
Re: Thursday, Oct. 19th - Dinneranora_beeDecember 6 2007, 07:15:57 UTC
Oh, Anora definitely appreciated the 'brilliant in all its simplicity' kind of plans. "Oh yeah, for SURE. As long as we plant the seed of doubt? We'll have them hooked. They'll never have any way of finding out for certain whether or not it's a giant joke or not."
She would always find sending totally fake owls to people highly amusing, and this made it all the better. "Ooh, sounds good. We should write one and make it sound as Boyko-ish as possible. That would really set 'em off." Heh heh. "Hell, we could probably get Boyko to write one himself if we threatened him enough," her laughter was borderline cackling now. Oh, scheming. Such fun, such fun.

Jake spotted Teegs sitting by herself at the Puff table and was a good enough friend to not let that go on for a second longer. "Teegs, I have an important topic to discuss," he said with a serious face before an apple caught his eye and he lost his train of thought, "Ooo, apple!" Shiny... he rubbed it on his sleeve to make it really shine and then turned back to Teegs. "Oh right, so this ball coming up is apparently a costume ball. AND OF COURSE, I picked one that's better with a partner costume. SO how about we go together. You as a princess, me as a prince. How about it?"
He grinned as if this was the best idea ever. Never mind his previous statement about taking friends to a ball. He didn't realize how a prince costume lost its purpose when there was no princess accompanying it. "I mean, just for the entrance of course. Then you'd could stick around or go and do other stuff like dancing!"
Re: Tuesday, Oct 16th - LunchvenusrefinedDecember 11 2007, 09:00:03 UTC
Tegan was sitting by herself at lunch that Tuesday but it wasn't something that she wasn't used to by now. When Jake took a seat next to her, though, she couldn't help the smile that turned up her lips. It made her feel special that someone would purposefully sit next to her, rather than by accident or because it was the only seat available. And the fact that he said he had something important to discuss made her feel even more special for some odd reason.
What on earth could he want to talk to her about?? She waited anxiously, furrowing her brow as he got side tracked with the apple.
Unfortunately she had just been taking a bite of her sandwich when he mentioned going to the ball together. Tegan coughed, trying to cover up the fact that she was choking on her food a little because... wow, had he just asked her to the ball? Seriously?? She had prepared herself to go single, so this came as a shock -- especially since it was the week of the ball.
"A princess?" She asked, not sure of what else to say.

Boyko was ready. He had decided against the dramatic cape swishing dance, as Trip said that he should play it low-key. However, at the site of one of his arch-nemesis' apprentices sitting with her at the lunch table his eyes widened in horror. THIS, did not bode well for our hero.
IF he was to win over the heart of Tegan in the midst of this crowded dining hall, he felt the only way he could stand a chance was if he reverted to drastic measures. In this case, drastic measures meant ripping off his school robes to reveal his uniform for the event that these measures must be taken. And in this case, uniform meant an old ballet outfit he had made himself out of the materials his sister had sent him from her trip to the Orient. They were normally used in kimonos but as he was rather scrawny he had used half of it for the kimono he still wore in his leisure time in the dorms, and half to create the masterpiece of beauty that was this ballet unitard. The manly sort, of course

Jacob couldn't exactly muster any sort of clever remark except for, "Wow," because really-- that had been something. The boy was weird, but he did ever perform under pressure. "That was some proposal," Jake added and then bit into his apple. It really wouldn't bother him if Teegs said yes to Boyko and no to him, he'd understand completely since it would be best not to break the guys heart in front of all these people.
He kind of felt bad for the position she was placed in currently. It wasn't supposed to be a contest after all, that's really not why he had asked.
"Anyway, yeah. A princess... I figured you fit the part," he gave a shrug and turned back to the matter at hand which was LUNCH! "Sandwich time!"
"But you know what, I think Boyko deserves something for his effort," Jake said and then whispered to Teegs so only she could here, "I'm not going to mind if you choose him, mate." And gave her a wink before he started to eat his lunch.

Laila was sitting at the claw table lost in her charms work. She had mastered the art of eating with one hand, while taking notes from a chapter with the other and not spilling a thing on her robes. It was a talent she was rather proud of, multitasking was always something to be proud of. With a sigh she set down her quill and took a look around, taking a break from the essay she was so keen on finishing three days before hand so she could edit it properly.
She had spent all day secluded in the library with her books and now she was yearning for someone to talk to.
Wednesday, October 25th. Lunch.mynameisanyaDecember 15 2007, 01:07:20 UTC
Anya munched happily away at the food that was in front of her. She was trying her best to hold onto the utterly happy mood that she was in because of the hanging out with her brothers business. So far this week, she'd done a pretty good job at keeping it up!! But sadly, she knew eventually she'd have to come down from cloud nine and the reality of the world and all the drama it held for her would soon hit her like a train.
But again, for the mean time, she would continue to enjoy this overly perky thing she got going.
Re: Wednesday, October 25th. Lunch.derek_blyDecember 15 2007, 01:22:58 UTC
Saying Derek was doing better today was maybe not entirely true. He was giving himself the label of 'better than yesterday' however because if he told himself that it would be true. Right? Positive thinking and all? Anyway, the initial shock had worn off and now Derek was going about things slightly numbed, but better. He'd get through this. It was would just take awhile. Thankfully Becca had been amazing and with Anora's help yesterday, Derek could just...move on. Or something

Re: Wednesday, October 25th. Lunch.mynameisanyaDecember 15 2007, 01:28:22 UTC
Unfortunately Anya was the type to get caught up in her own thoughts and emotions. With her being so happy, yes, she wanted to share that with others, but it didn't exactly make her observant either. She hadn't noticed that Derek sat at her table because she was generally caught up in a whirl of conversation and good times with friends who had sat next to her.
The only reason she happened to notice him this time was because he sat closer and because there wasn't anyone she was talking to yet. But hey, she was always happy to see Derek! Though it was a surprise that he was sitting at this particular table... and she wondered why he didn't sit next to her or directly across from her. Curious, indeed.
"Derek?" She somehow managed to scoot herself closer to where he was, thankful that there weren't a lot of Puffs there yet, "What's up? What ya doing here?" Anya grinned at him, though her perkiness wasn't nearly as crazy as it had been the previous two days. Probably a good thing in this case.
Re: Wednesday, October 25th. Lunch.derek_blyDecember 15 2007, 01:47:37 UTC
Spotted. Well, it was bound to happen eventually. Derek gave her a smile but kept his eyes mostly on his food. Easier if to come off as okay if he wasn't looking at her. "I'm- hiding out," he said honestly. Derek didn't really want to explain it but his answer made him breath a laugh and he looked back up to smile at her. "Not my best week. What about you? You saw Darin and Taylor right?"
Turning the subject around? Derek? It looked like he hadn't kicked the habit at all. Becca he could be up front with but after breaking to one person, Derek's quota was filled, thanks. It didn't come naturally to lean on Anya. Apparently this hadn't changed anything. And she was so happy. Derek could tell just by looking at her. It was unfair to bring her down over something so stupid and centered around him. So, he'd keep making that effort toward being okay and try to engage in conversation like a normal person.
