Re: Tuesday, Oct 16th - Lunch blackguardboyko December 11 2007, 09:29:01 UTC
Boyko was ready. He had decided against the dramatic cape swishing dance, as Trip said that he should play it low-key. However, at the site of one of his arch-nemesis' apprentices sitting with her at the lunch table his eyes widened in horror. THIS, did not bode well for our hero.

IF he was to win over the heart of Tegan in the midst of this crowded dining hall, he felt the only way he could stand a chance was if he reverted to drastic measures. In this case, drastic measures meant ripping off his school robes to reveal his uniform for the event that these measures must be taken. And in this case, uniform meant an old ballet outfit he had made himself out of the materials his sister had sent him from her trip to the Orient. They were normally used in kimonos but as he was rather scrawny he had used half of it for the kimono he still wore in his leisure time in the dorms, and half to create the masterpiece of beauty that was this ballet unitard. The manly sort, of course.

Now, one might wonder how an individual such as Boyko would KNOW any sort of ballet, but his mother had enlisted him in lessons when she realized he had had horrible posture and sought to correct it through the noble art of ballet.

"Tegan! Fair beauty!" he called out, reverting back to his old regular was which were now his new drastic measures ways. "Before you make any hasty decisions about who you agree to accompany to the ball, I urge you to consider THIS!"

And without caring that he was in front of a great portion of the entire student body, Boyko got into the opening position of what was about to be the most amazing ballet number of all time. Mind you, he had only reached up to an eleven year old's technique level, so all in all it wasn't very good. But there he was! Jete! Pirouhette! Pas du chat! Pas du cheval! CHAINE CHAINE CHAINECHAINECHAINE! Boyko was twirling up a storm before executing a perfect second split in a final leap of desperation before landing on one knee at her feet, sweat pouring down the triumphant grin on his face.

He felt he needed no further explanation than that.

Jacob couldn't exactly muster any sort of clever remark except for, "Wow," because really-- that had been something. The boy was weird, but he did ever perform under pressure. "That was some proposal," Jake added and then bit into his apple. It really wouldn't bother him if Teegs said yes to Boyko and no to him, he'd understand completely since it would be best not to break the guys heart in front of all these people.

He kind of felt bad for the position she was placed in currently. It wasn't supposed to be a contest after all, that's really not why he had asked.

"Anyway, yeah. A princess... I figured you fit the part," he gave a shrug and turned back to the matter at hand which was LUNCH! "Sandwich time!"

"But you know what, I think Boyko deserves something for his effort," Jake said and then whispered to Teegs so only she could here, "I'm not going to mind if you choose him, mate." And gave her a wink before he started to eat his lunch.

Never in her wildest, WILDEST dreams would Tegan have imagined someone doing such a performance for her. It was one of those out of body experiences for her at the moment. She was watching the scene unfold, but she felt as if she were looking at it from another angle. As if she were an outside viewer looking in. It was weird, and she didn't know how to react to the grandioseness known as Boyko. Or to the fact that, within minutes, she had gotten two offers for the dance.

Her face sure knew how to react, though, as her cheeks turned a bright red. Not that she didn't appreciate what he was doing -- it was very nice and she was highly flattered -- but Tegan didn't know how to handle this kind of attention. It was too much for her and she kind of wanted to slink under the table and hide. Boys didn't normally shower her with these kinds of things... this was the stuff that the pretty girls were supposed to get. This was how they were supposed to be asked to the dance. Not her.

And then Jake was saying something about her fitting the part of a princess? Whoa! That wasn't exactly something she saw herself as, but it was sweet of him to say. Only, it made the blush that much worse and the urge to hide that much stronger.

"Um." She tried to form words with her mouth, staring at Boyko in amazement as he kneeled before her on the floor, "Wow. I-- Thank you."

Tegan turned to Jake when he whispered in her ear, relief etched on her face because how in the world was she supposed to pick between the two?! She had a fear of hurting others feelings and she would hate to hurt either of theirs by choosing the other. "Really?" He was an easy going guy, he wouldn't mind... besides, Jake could probably get any girl to go with him.

Boyko was very, very tired. Sure he had a lot of energy, but he wasn't accustomed to performing full-length ballet solos on a regular basis. Especially in constricting manly ballet unitards like the one he was wearing right now. At least it hadn't ripped in any embarrassing places.

So at the moment, he was content to let Tegan deliberate whilst he lay on the floor, breathing heavily and trying to regain his strength.

Oh, sweet, sweet, calamity.

Jake gave Teegs a wide reassuring smile, "Go ahead, give the bloke a little hope," He said before looking over to where Boyko used to be standing. He got up with a puzzled look before realizing Boyko had actually collapsed on the ground from exhaustion. "Alright there mate?" Jake asked with a bit of concern. He was breathing pretty hard.

"Hey teegs, maybe you should just tell him you'll go with him to the ball. If you need rescuing because he goes off the handle I'll sweep in and save ya." Because that's what friends were for. Especially best friends, which is sort of what Jake considered Teegs as.

She was still going to feel bad for 'turning down' Jake, but he was being so encouraging and thoughtful and... well, how could she not accept Boyko's proposal? Seriously??

"Will you promise to dance with me, Jake?" She asked with a smile, giggling to herself. Though then she realized Boyko's condition and got out of her seat, kneeling beside him on the floor, "Are you alright? Boyko..." Her she blushed, because she still wasn't quite sure how to handle this whole situation, "That was really great. What you did. And well... I guess what I'm trying to say is... um... yes. I'll go with you!" She smiled nervously, looking at Jake for a little reassurance. Tegan was so bad at this kind of thing!!

Boyko wasn't sure he was hearing Tegan correctly, he had been sure he had been too late. Oh, sweet fate! Sweet Graces of Zeus! Sweet Besus!

For onces in his life, Boyko had been successful at WOOING a female! It was as if his energy was instantly restored to every limb in his body and he sprang to his feet, most likely giving the people behind him a good view of his sweaty rumpus. Thank Merlin he was FACING Tegan and Jake so they could only see the beads of sweat trickling down his face.

"SUCCESS!" he crowed, all too oblivious to the fact that she was probably only going with him out of pity for his pathetic self. He was riding on a wave of delicious bliss.

"THANK YOU! O FAIR ONE!" he cheered, fistpumping. "I shall reconvene with you later to discuss the specifics, but for now, I MUST BE OFF!" And with an equally dramatic exit, Boyko turned into a series of turning jetes that would have put even the most experienced male ballerina to shame. In his opinion, of course.

And HE WAS OFF! SAILING THROUGH THE DOOR INTO THE HALLS! And once he was in the halls? He did a very manly hand slice through the air to initiate another series of moves, and pranced and skipped all the way back to his dorm.

[Exeunt Boyko]

Jake couldn't help it anymore. Despite the fact that he wanted to keep Teegs from feeling embarrassed at all, it couldn't stop the flood of laughter that commenced as soon as Boyko was gone. "O FAIR ONE," he gasped as he clutched his stomach and tried to master himself. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he apologized over and over to Teegs to try and make the laughter less hurtful to her. "I'm just laughing because he... I mean... he had butt-sweat! Didn't you see? Didn't you?" Come on! Who doesn't laugh at that!

"I'm sorry," he repeated, "We're talking about your date here. I'll stop." He made a very serious face, "See?" but it didn't last long since it cracked quickly with a twitch of his mouth.

Her face was BRIGHT RED! Because there he went again, making a show and calling attention to them. To her!! It was a horrible feeling, and she felt the same urge to run and hide as she did only moments before... perhaps saying yes to him wasn't a good idea? Though she wasn't serious when she thought that. After all, Tegan had pondered the idea of him asking her before. It all just came as a shock that he actually did ask her. Had Frankie suggested it to him after she had told her?

"Thank a lot," She shook her head, smacking Jake lightly on the shoulder as he laughed. Tegan knew he wasn't doing it on purpose, and his apologies helped but they didn't completely heal her embarrassment. Nor did they take away her insane amount of blushing. As she returned to her seat to finish lunch, or try to finish, she replied back with a scoff, "I did not see! You think I actually look at that type of thing??" She was a little scandalized, and a bit more embarrassed by the thought of looking at a boy's behind.

Her date. Wow. That was a weird phrase. Something she hadn't heard too often before.

She looked at him when he said he would stop, and at seeing the twitch of his mouth, she herself started to crack up. Because when thinking about it?? It was all just too hilarious!!!

Once she actually started laughing along with him, Jake felt a little less guilty for laughing in the first place. He let himself laugh it out before trying to resume his lunch and actual conversation. As funny as butt-sweat was, Jake was still pretty hungry.

"Anyway," he said with the grin still attached to his face, "I'll totally dance with you, it just wont be like regular dancing because I'm not very good at dancing. So it'll be like a ghost like imitation of dancing. How about that? Will that do?" He would try his best since it would be for Teegs. He was still pretty unsure about the whole dance-off he got wrapped up in. He wasn't a shy guy so it wasn't like not knowing would stop him from trying and then laughing at his attempts.

His laugh was quite infectious, so once he started laughing again she found her chortles growing in intensity, but fortunately they didn't last long before she forced herself to calm down. Woo! And now her eyes were a little misty and her side ached slightly. Good times.

"A ghost like imitation of dancing?" Her brow quirked up and she let out a bit more laughter because that sounded weird. Tegan wasn't sure how to imagine that. "Um... okay. But all I'm asking for is a slow dance. You can't even do that? All you have to do is step around in circles." Though now that she thought about it, slow dances were kind of awkward. You had the choice of either being silent and enjoying the music or having small talk. Thankfully she knew that it wouldn't be that awkward with Jake, which was why she had the nerve to ask him in the first place.

"Unless you're turned off by the fact that you'll have to touch me." Teasing, she stuck her tongue out.

"Yes, ghost like in every way. But slow dance?" he made a face, "I'm not sure if I have a speed called 'slow'. Maybe we should liven up the dance floor when everyone else does the stepping around in circles bit. We should pull out some really corny moves. The only ones I know are the sprinkler," and he demonstrated for her, "The dive," which he also demonstrated, "the shopping-cart and the bus driver!" It would be great. Teegs and he would totally be tearing it up while everyone else was having romantic moments, rather amusing to Jake in any case.

Jake stuck his tongue right back at Teegs, "That is SO the case. You're a toad and if I touch you I will immediately loose my sight and also all of my hair will stand on end. But then I wouldn't be able to see you or the state of my hair so it wouldn't really matter if I danced with you after that!"

This was true. It was hard to keep the boy in one place for more than a couple seconds, so it was quite likely he wouldn't have the patience for a slow dance. At his suggestion she facepalmed. Not because it was ridiculous or she was embarrassed by it, but because it was funny and such a Jake thing to say. Tegan giggled when he demonstrated, "You are going to be the King of the dance floor with those moves. But yeah, of course! We have to do that! Mock all those couples, you know? All they do is snog during those dances anyway." Bleh. Gross. She hated watching them do that.

She looked offended when he called her a toad, though she wasn't serious, "Ouch. And here I thought we were friends. So I guess you were lying about me fitting the part of a princess? I see how it is, Jake. The truth hurts, but at least I know now." Sigh.

Speaking of costumes... "Hey wait, who will you go with to the dance now? I feel bad about not going with you... it would have been fun."

"Nah, with a kiss I'm sure you'd make a lovely princess, you just have to find someone to kiss you. That's all!" Jake gave her a cheeky grin; he knew how she got with boys and kissing and stuff like that. "Anyway, I'm not concerned about if I get a date or not! As long as I have fun that's all I'm counting on. But you know what I've always wanted to do? Go on a blind-date! It's so exciting! You have no idea who you'll be stuck with all night!"

And even if they were the scum of the earth it would be fun to try and irk them until they screamed!

Her? Get a kiss?? Pffft. As if that would happen anytime soon. Tegan hated the fact that she was blushing again, hadn't she just gotten her cheeks to finally cool down? Now they were heating up again... it was bad how even a silly joke like that would make her flush something fierce.

"Guess I'll be a toad for awhile, then..." She mumbled under hear breath as she finally started eating her sandwich again.

Taking a sip to wash her food down with, she grinned over at him, "A blind date, wow! You're brave!! I'd be afraid who I would get stuck with, but you're much more outgoing so you'd have no problem. How would you get a blind date? Ask someone to fix you up with some random girl?"

Jake waved away her praise missing her toad comment, "Nah, I just act without thinking, it's a lot different from bravery," he grinned. "I might even just skip the third party part and ask a random girl out. It would be the same idea, I wouldn't know who she was or how she acts until the date night. It's at least a good way to meet knew friends... if the date goes well anyway."

And wasn't he always looking for new people to hang around with? The more people he knew the better the chances of running into someone to play when he had nothing else to do!

"Anyway, I need to run and stuff," he said squishing the last bit of his sandwich into his mouth. This mad it impossible to talk without spitting bread all over teegs so he signed his good bye and blew her a kiss before running out of the great hall. He at least now had a missing that didn't have anything to do with school work or bettering his grades.
