DPP: Random Idea Day

What if
...Gianne had been Kara's sister?
...Kara and Lee were together and she almost (or did) cheated on him with Zak?
...Kara had gotten shot in Sacrifice instead of Lee (not necessarily by him)?
...they'd been transported somewhere else when Kara put the arrow in the archer's bow?
...Lee had chosen Kara as his XO in/after Razor?
...Sam had realized ( Read more... )

(What episode is that cap/outtake from? Looks like a Pegasus locker. Hadn't seen that before.)

Also, where is Taragel and who took her place?? LOOK AT ALL THAT ANGST! :P

I've often thought about making Dee pregnant and it almost happened in Chasing the Dragon. I had it on the back burner for months and then ultimately dropped it.

I also like the idea of Kara and Zak eloping and the near impossibility of them being together if Zak had lived. I do enjoy the challenge and potential fodder for infideliciousness. Mmmmmm. :P

I think it's from Captain's Hand, on Pegasus, yes. I was trolling through the stills at kateesackhoff.fanfusion.org for new stuff. (Didn't find many pilots shots I hadn't seen before though.)

Hee. :) I got almost to the end and was like "Crap these are depressing, eh?"

I never like the idea of Dee pregnant (or Kara with Sam--although that's so much less likely for a billion reasons) but...it's sort of weird that it never actually came up on the show. We don't know how she felt about it and Lee was...uh...notoriously an unreliable narrator w/r/t his feelings on kids.

Someday (and I've been saying this for ages) I'm going to write a story of Lee observing married Kara and Zak with great misery. Lol.

Yes, I was just looking at those shots, and it seems like some scene that we never ended up seeing and never appeared on the DVDs. Hmm. Now I am super curious. I'm going to have to dig around some more to figure it out.

Dee pregnant = blegh. :P

I'm pretty sure this still is from the deleted scene in "Captain's Hand" where Lee and Kara are talking about whether Garner deserves the benefit of the doubt, and Lee eventually switches tacks and tells Kara that he feels really angry with her and doesn't know why, he just does. One of their more honest conversations, I've always thought.

Plus I love the way Kara says something like: "What about what he owes us? What about having a leader worth our respect, do we not deserve that?"

More on Gianne as Kara's sister. Isn't that kind of an interesting one? Lee and Gianne are seeing each other, but then he meets/has this spark with Kara--maybe something even happens like the table scene, then Gianne declares she's pregnant (maybe it's the truth, maybe she's lying b/c she sees whatever's happening with Lee and Kara and wants to stop that in its tracks). Lee's troubled by the pregnancy news and goes to Kara for...commiseration? Comfort? Sexytimes?

IDK. I like the possibility of it all. I'd be very curious about what Kara and Gianne's relationship was like (can't possibly imagine it being as seemingly good as Lee and Zak's somehow) and how they grew up with Socrata. Gianne could have been very much the "good daughter" who escapes her mother's wrath while Kara bears the brunt of it. (I can't see her being all that protective of Kara and Kara still coming out the way she seems to have in canon, so independent and fierce and a fighter.)

I have to admit that while I sort of enjoy the brothers thing I HATE the sisters thing. I know it is hypocritical or sexist or whatever but it is. I just seems like a slimy thing when guys do it but when women do it seems more ok. Probably because in story telling when women are willing to switch brothers it is because of "true love" and when a guy wants to switch siblings it's because he wants to fill the space on sex bingo for banging sisters.

To be fair to myself I don't just love the idea of swapping one man for his brother but there's been movies like Moonstruck and While You Were Sleeping and you can't argue with either Cher or Sandra Bullock. It just isn't allowed.

LOL. Lee is so not your typical, uh, sex bingo filler, that it works for me I guess. I imagine it would still be just as fueled by their unexpected and incredibly deep emotional connection as in canon it is in my head!canon.

Plus if he's sorta bored or unhappy with Gianne anyway... and then he meets Kara who he shouldn't work with but actually has so much in common with deep down...

Although it's funny isn't it-- we seldom ever imply that Kara was bored with or unhappy with her relationship with Zak in any way. It's okay for her to love him but still want Lee.
Yet the reverse seems weird to us. We can never imagine that Lee loves or is happy with Gianne or Dee and just feels deeply for Kara too.

Also... if Kara had been shot and seriously injured in Sacrifice rather than Lee--that could've changed everything for them. I could see Lee panicking and wanting to get to her and then just freaking out and hovering and (sorry Dee) forgetting all about the date/that relationship. Maybe the injury would even prevent her from going back to Caprica. Or maybe her mindset would change and it would just become far less of a priority.

Well, I actually have a different story in my head that I'm sorta letting percolate already set around Sacrifice. In that, Lee still gets shot by Kara, but it's AFTER she's already rescued/is seeing Anders. I think that time flip would change a lot of things because

a) Anders would no longer be a dead guy giving Kara Dead Guy Issues b) Lee WOULD become a proxy/potentially dead guy giving Kara Dead Guy Issues (I'm imagining the shot has a bit graver consequences/longer convalescence for Leland)
c) it would give Sam a chance to see how fucked up she is over shooting Lee and how that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Kara & Lee Issues and how he should get the fuck out the door while he can
d) it gives Kara a chance to really figure out that Sam isn't actually what she wants and that they aren't particularly well-suited because he'll never understand her nature

I haven't quite decided what happens to Dee but I'm thinking letting Billy live (although very damaged?) will nicely dovetail with this scenario.

Ooooh, this idea is exciting!

I remember when I first watched Sacrifice, being so thrilled because I thought pilots teaming up to solve a hostage situation had so much potential, and being so bitterly disappointed/heartbroken by the way it turned out, but I like this storyline much better.

...Kara and Lee had gotten trapped in the airlock instead of Chief and Cally?

Whoa. This one just hit me hard. Like whoa. I think I might have a plot bunny. Or something.

OMG CAN I EVEN DO THIS??? K/L set in the canon timeline???? :DDD

\o/ YOU CAN DO THIS!! (I love inspiring plot bunnies!!)

I just think it maybe could've been a wake up call moment. Also they would have been in a kind of difficult place at that point in canon, which gives a lot of fun stuff to play with!

YAY! DO IT! DO IT! :)

Yes, a wakeup call was EXACTLY what I was thinking - oh oh oh! *adds to list*

Kara had started an actual relationship with Baltar after Colonial Day?

Okay, that just made me laugh. :)

...they'd been transported somewhere else when Kara put the arrow in the archer's bow?

This could have been really interesting. What if they found irradiated Earth? It would have been an entirely different show if, say, they decided to go back to the Colonies with Pegasus and got there in time to meet up with Caprica and Boomer who were ready to be peaceful...

Hee. I do think the original idea was for there to be more of a love triangle between kara, Lee and Baltar. There's that promo shot from before S1 of the three of them. Heh.

Interesting...

I love this idea. Or if they had been transported to irradiated Earth but with some hint that they could break the cycle and find new Earth too. Totally interesting...
