17 Chapter 18
“You know what you have to do, Aiba,” Ninomiya’s voice sounded serious and oppressive. Masaki knew what he was supposed to do, he just didn’t want to do it.
“Kill him or turn him. Although the first option will be better for him,” he added, his voice becoming colder with every word.
Both of them knew that Aiba didn’t want to hear what he had to say.
“I… I can’t, you know that!” Aiba’s voice shook when he answered and he looked away. “And I don’t want to do it, either!”
Nino sighed. His eyes were ice-cold when he looked at Aiba, clearly showing his friend how little he thought of what Aiba had just said.
“Masaki. What do you want me to say…? That I will kill him for you…?“
Aiba shook his head violently, looking at Nino with big, pleading eyes.
“No! It’s not his fault… it’s mine! I don’t want… him to have to die because of me…” His desperation was easily heard in his voice by now and Aiba could do nothing to dispel it, it seemed to be permanent.
“Why can’t we just…”
But Aiba didn’t get any further before Nino cut him off:
“No! You can’t just let him go! Don’t even think about it! What if he says something… to anyone… or even Satoshi-kun! Then you’ll drag me into it, too, Masaki. And the morning after he will turn up at my door or at yours and it’ll be over!”
Nino’s voice was hard and unyielding, the voice that made Aiba feel small and inferior every time Nino used it. But he was right. And he made it obvious that he was right.
Aiba Masaki didn’t know what he should answer his friend.
Nino took a step closer, put his hands on Aiba’s shoulders and looked him deep in the eyes. But his voice softened.
“Masaki… Aiba-chan… I’m going into your bedroom now. I’ll do it quickly. He won’t even notice it.”
Aiba swallowed and dug his fingers into the cloth of his pants. But Nino’s gaze made him keep his silence, made him unable to find the right words.
“I’ll take the same spot you bit yesterday… the wound is surely still disinfected… and I bet you gave him some pain killers as well. He will feel hardly anything…”
Aiba didn’t want to hear this, he didn’t want to hear anything anymore! Nino would… he would…
“You better stay here…,” was the last thing Aiba heard. Then Nino disappeared.
And Aiba didn’t want to think about what would happen now.
Sho couldn’t sleep. No matter what he did, he couldn’t force his body to get some long-overdue rest. His limbs felt weak, even numb in some places. But he was lying in a strange bed, in a strange room, looking at the ceiling, unable to stop thinking.
He had experienced too much in the last hours, there were too many thoughts in his head.
‘He’s a vampire. A vampire, like the one who killed my parents and my brother.’
The thought made him swallow hard, goose bumps rising on his skin.
“But he is sorry… he’s really sorry…,” quietly left his mouth, while his thoughts automatically wandered to Aiba and the way he had lain in his arms, crying.
But all of these thoughts were forgotten at once. Suddenly Ninomiya stood in front of him.
“Sho-kun…”
The host couldn’t ask what he wanted from him, couldn’t think about why he was there. What all of it meant.
He could only stare at Ninomiya and listen to his words, frozen:
“I’m really sorry for doing this… especially because you’re important to Satoshi-kun…”
Then he saw the long teeth.
And a moment later he felt the strange body pressed against his, felt Ninomiya push his head to the side and rip the bandage off of his throat.
He could feel his hot breath on his skin.
‘Oh God… he is also…,’ darted through his head.
“I’m really sorry… Sho-kun…”
So those would be the last words he heard in his life. It was over. Sho was only waiting to feel the pain in his throat, Nino’s fangs biting through his skin, while he realized how stupid he had been to trust Aiba.
But the pain never came. Instead he felt an immense pressure and then the warm body was gone. Immediately Sho opened his eyes. He saw Ninomiya lying on the ground, obviously pulled off of him by someone else.
Aiba Masaki.
“No! No, no, no, Nino! Please don’t!” Masaki shouted and shook his head. „Please don’t…”
But Nino started moving again. He got to his feet and Sho shivered when he met his angry gaze.
“Stay out of this!”
In the blink of an eye Ninomiya was in front of him again, his mouth opened wide. He was so close, too close. Light reflected off his teeth and Sho couldn’t breathe.
But again he felt the pull on his body, saw Aiba reach for Nino again and pull him off.
Everything was happening much too fast.
“Stop, Nino!” Aiba shouted suddenly and gripped the smaller vampire’s shoulder. Sho could see the desperation in Aiba’s eyes.
“Stop this! Don’t do this! Think about Satoshi-kun! Please, Nino…,” Aiba begged. A shiver ran down Sho’s spine.
But this time Ninomiya fought back.
A moment later Sho saw both vampires on the other side of the room. Nino had Aiba pressed against the wall and Sho could only stare at his back. He knew exactly what Nino’s eyes must look like right now, flashing in anger. And suddenly fear crept into his heart again. But he wasn’t afraid for himself, he was afraid for Aiba.
“Masaki, you stop this! Get real!” Ninomiya’s strained voice hissed through the room.
“He knows! He fucking knows what we are! You should have killed him the first time, that would have been fucking best for him!”
The sight of the two vampires arguing fiercely had caused tears to fall from Sho’s eyes. The terror sat deep in his bones.
Nino let go of Aiba and turned back to Sho.
The host had a moment to look at his long fangs and blood-red eyes. And suddenly he understood, suddenly everything was clear to him, the realization hit him like a ton of bricks.
“It was you…,” he said quietly, his voice weak and shaking in fear, but angry at the same time.
“I know it… I recognize you now…!”
His gaze was glued to the smaller vampire, he couldn’t look away from his flashing, red eyes. His heart was racing.
“Nearly twenty years ago… You were there! You killed them!”
Everything was so clear all of a sudden. Why had Sho never understood before? The answer seemed so obvious, now that it was standing right in front of him. It seemed to almost be laughing at him, because he had been too blind to see it. For how long had Ninomiya been a regular at the club? How often had he seen him? And every time he had felt this aversion deep inside. A feeling he hadn’t been able to explain until just now. And now he felt it more clearly than ever before.
Ninomiya had killed his parents. And his brother.
next chapter So this time it was a rather short chapter. But we got to know something more about Sho's mysterious past and why he didn't like Nino from the begin with!
Let's see how things will go on with our poor host! Will Aiba save him again from Ninomiya's deathly fangs? :D
