We've got important updates for you this week. As promised, we've made significant changes to Facebook and Twitter Connect integration that respond to your privacy concerns. We're also saying goodbye to an old friend (TxtLJ) and introducing a community moderation enhancement. There's a lot of ground to cover today, so let's get started!

The community rejection enhancement is a nice touch. Poor TxtLJ, rest in peace.

Oh! Another option for TxtLJ might be LJTalk? If there's a Jabber compatible client on the phone or something.

Sorry to nag you, as one of the staff members who've posted here. But:

1) This isn't a fix for our concerns. 'Restricting' crossposting a group anyone can join for no cost isn't restricting it at all. We would like control of our own journals. I don't think that's too much to ask.

2) Is anything being done about staff members who abuse the users?

3) Are you ever going to consult properly with the users?

4) Why are staffers not answering these questions?

Can we log in again from the comment box?

Before you screwed this up, if I got a comment notification and I wasn't logged in, I would have the option to log into LJ completely, and not just for the comment.

If you comment on a post and provide your username and password in order to do it, you should end up logged in automatically so the checkbox was removed (that was one of the changes made last month).

I've seen just a couple of reports saying that it's not working for people - if it's not working for you can you please open a Support Request? That way, we can aggregate browser information or other things and figure out why it's not working sometimes!

Speaking of comments, can you ask someone about tabbing from the comment box? For example, on both the individual comment page and the Javascript quick comment I can tab from the body field to the Post Comment button, I can shift-tab to the Subject field, but going any further in either direction takes you to the top of the page. Prior to the LJ Connect change you could tab forward to the More Options button, and tab backwards to the icon selection dropdown menu.

Oh, ok, thank you!

I'll make note of it next time it happens, especially the browser part. I use a different one depending on what computer I am on (firefox, IE, chrome) and even different operating systems.

Don't breathe too easily. From what I'm hearing, the Cyrillic services thing applies to the commenter, not the poster. In other words, anybody commenting on your post who has Cyrillic services on can crosspost their comment if they want, even if the poster isn't using Cyrillic services.

Is there some way of verifying that easily?

It was tested before I left my comment by friends of mine, and I made sure that this was how it worked before I posted the comment.

[edit: by which I mean, although I didn't test it personally, I asked what happened to make sure it was clear before I posted this, and didn't post until I knew all the circumstances.]

Can I grab that icon? It is hilarious, and I say this as someone who does have a DW, but uses BOTH accounts.
