We've got important updates for you this week. As promised, we've made significant changes to Facebook and Twitter Connect integration that respond to your privacy concerns. We're also saying goodbye to an old friend (TxtLJ) and introducing a community moderation enhancement. There's a lot of ground to cover today, so let's get started!

The community rejection enhancement is a nice touch. Poor TxtLJ, rest in peace.

Oh! Another option for TxtLJ might be LJTalk? If there's a Jabber compatible client on the phone or something.

Sorry to nag you, as one of the staff members who've posted here. But:

1) This isn't a fix for our concerns. 'Restricting' crossposting a group anyone can join for no cost isn't restricting it at all. We would like control of our own journals. I don't think that's too much to ask.

2) Is anything being done about staff members who abuse the users?

3) Are you ever going to consult properly with the users?

4) Why are staffers not answering these questions?

Thank you for this. It's not a lot, but it's honest as far as I can tell.
It's appreciated.

THANK YOU for explaining what you could. I understand that you and other staff members "on the front lines" are under a lot of pressure, and this really comes across as well-thought-out. It also seems to me that you are being as informative as you are able.

I don't know who's actually writing the news releases, but the way the news is being handled -- things being promised that aren't actually delivered, with no apologies for giving inaccurate info, for instance, and descriptions of what's being implemented that downplay important details -- is contributing a lot to the anger you're seeing from so many users. If you haven't done so already, would you please relay this upward as well? Thanks :)

1. Thank you, it's nice to know someone is listening.

2. you don't have to give us the details to inform us that something is being done. A message or note in a news update stateing that the matter is being handled would be surficient for the majority of users. (and of course the stopage of the abuse)

3. Perhaps polls could be considered for very large decisions? Like this facebook debarcle. If you'd polled your userbase about it, you would've been well informed we didn't want it.

4. With the latest avalanch of comments, a simple "We're looking into it, please be patient" would have shut half of us up. It's the absolute silence that annoys everyone, it makes us feel ignored.

Thank you for taking the time to answer! I know as a staffer you can't do everything but it is nice to see something!
