Never propose to somebody at their work. Bad idea for sure. I was already super nervous. I came in looking like a wreck with pale and clammy skin, sweat all over my clothes, wild eyes, hair looking like shite, and an odd stutter. Some of Ginny's coworkers were looking at me as if I had a fatal disease. One person even asked if I needed to go to St ( Read more... )

..Oh, Neville, darling. You shouldn't be embarrassed, I'm sure a lot of people get nervous when they're popping the question and all that. And, um, yes, catching her at work was probably a feat in itself, but I highly doubt she would say "no" to you after all of that.

Then again, I don't think she'd have said "no" in the first place. So. You're probably perfectly okay. Just wait for her to come home and try to just relax, so you can..talk?

I'm afraid that it will be awkward between us. I mean...I'd like to...talk and all.

Oh bugger.

I think you're thinking too much. It might be a tiny bit awkward, but the Question probably erases any kind of embarrassment that could come from the whole situation, you know? I mean, I think it would.

Just sit, take a couple deep breaths, and you'll be fine! Promise. Maybe grab a cup of tea too.

Tea. Yes! Tea is a great idea. Yes. I suppose I could head down to the coffee shop and order a tea or two.

I just don't know how to bring the whole conversation up, is all. Like, do I walk in and say "Hmph. About yesterday...", because then it would sound negative, and I don't know if I should sound too positive...

Merlin. Tea. I can start with that. Would you like to join?

So that's what happened!
I was looking after the newbies, and Boom! Commotion all over the shoppy, by the time I'd got there everything had settled!
Kingsley said a boy came in the auror office looking like death and shouted something at one of the recruits - He must have meant you.
She didn't seem in rage or anything like that, she just looked baffled. You should be ok mate, don't dwell on this stuff. I promise to button my lip until you get this sorted.

Oh bugger, I'm infamous now, eh? I thought it'd be cute and romantic to surprise her at her work, but of course; I messed it up. I should be used to messing everything up.

You threw the ring at her?

Erm...I might have. But not on purpose!

You might have? Do you have any idea of how to propose?

I tried! I went in there and was supposed to surprise her, and...well, things obviously didn't go as planned. So, I freaked out and yelled and might have thrown the ring.

Do you have experience in proposing?

Ah, that's rough, mate. I suggest that you wait until she comes home on your next try. Or maybe take her out to dinner.

She adores you, Neville. You've got nothing to worry about.

Thanks, mate. That makes me feel better. I know she cares about me (or I would've been gone a long time ago), but after what happened with the whole proposal...I just don't know how to bring it up again! I don't even know if she picked up the ring or not.

What would you do?

getwood July 29 2007, 22:14:51 UTC
Well, I'd...just talk to her I suppose. Sit her down. Tell her you need a few moments without interruption. Then explain everything.

And it'll probably be a good idea to find out the whereabouts of the ring.

That sounds simple enough. Just...talk to her. Hmph. And yes, to know where the ring is might be a good idea when discussing a proposal. Again.

Why me?!

Uh, er, Neville, mate, have you tried to apologize maybe? Candies? Flowers?

nevillebottom July 30 2007, 11:53:52 UTC
Erm...not exactly. I've been sparse to say the least.

You think flowers would work on Ginny?? I think she'd throw them in my face or feed them to Lancelot.

It's worth a try...

Apologize first, then flowers.

Women like flowers, don't they?

We're talking Ginny here...

What kind do you think she likes? I could grab a few from my herbology shop...but then they might spit on her and that would'nt be good.
