Instead of doing something like, well, working, Demyx had been thinking about heading out to the beach. Even if it was fairly cold, it was still the ocean, and there was nothing quite like being surrounded by your element -- especially given the alternative.

Stepping out of the hotel, he didn't really notice Xemnas, too busy humming under his breath. He was trying to compose something new, but the rhythm felt off; maybe because time seemed to be so messed up on this world.

The humming reached his ears immediately and he look down, taking the square in until he noticed Demyx. He knew that IX had appeared again - Xigbar had informed him of this during his weekly report - but he had not seen the other Nobody.

It didn't surprise him, however. Demyx was never one to seek out work.

Xemnas stood up and waited until Demyx reached him before nodding in greeting.

Stuck on the same part of his song, Demyx was frowning slightly to himself (all for show, of course) when the hair on the back of his neck began to stand up in the same way it did whenever something that was large and quite possibly capable of or trying to cause him some sort of bodily harm was around. Looking up, he managed to not walk too far into any personal space bubble Xemnas might have had, instead returning the nod with a crooked grin.

"Heyyy, Superior. Uh. Long time no see?"

Well, there went his plans for the beach.

Xemnas crooked his mouth into a mockery of a smile. "IX," he replied. "It has been some time."

He had never bothered to check on the other Nobody the last time he was in town and saw no need to do so with this one, either. However, appearances needed to be kept, and Xemnas was quite adept at doing so.

"You've not come by with your report."

While Larxene had been staying at her guild hall more often than not these days (mostly because it was more suited to her tastes) even she was prone to getting bored. There weren't really enough people in the guild yet to make pestering the guild members much of interest and Marluxia was still who knew where, damn his eyes.

Finding Xemnas out and about was therefore rather interesting. Or at least, more so than anything else.

"And to what do we owe your presence~?"

Larxene. He had not seen her since her arrival - there was no point in going out of his way to greet every member that showed up, especially those that had defected.

He looked up and nodded in greeting.

"I desired some fresh air."

As far as Larxene was concerned, she hadn't technically defected. Or not officially anyway. She and Marluxia had simply been trying to arrange a slight shift in the power balance.

"What, your mansion doesn't have a moon-gazing deck?"

Vexing as always.

"It would have been a waste of resources," he replied drolly, "when there is an entire world in which to breathe freely."

And such an architectural decision would have invited more than just mere thieves. He did not desire to be disturbed when he was working.

Kefka's killed the tiny dragons and skinned them with a healthy application of magic; now he's coming back into town covered in ashes, grime, blood and with several shiny hides over his shoulder.

He doesn't look unhappy about it.

He had never met Kefka, but from both Saix and Xigbar's descriptions, he knew the man walking by covered in soot and blood had to be the mage.

This man was the one who had created so many problems, including ones that Saix had not felt worth mentioning? He certainly did not look to be intimidating, but Xemnas could feel Kefka's magic from across the square. It wavered, and he wondered exactly how much control Kefka truly had.

It would be interesting to see if it could be stabilized.

Kefka feels the roiling darkness before he sees it, billowing around Xemnas as if he were a factory chimney and just as sweet-smelling.

It's been--how many months since he saw the mayor at the ball? Three or four? Time blurrs like on the tower, shedding time and ideas like old shells. He steps forward, wiping his face off with his crisped cloak before saluting the mayor. Time to check out the competition.

"Having fun watching?"

Xemnas inclined his head. One had to be observant in order to be a scientist, after all.

"It seems you've been hunting," he said, motioning to the hides that Kefka was carrying. He had heard that the mage had opened a clothing store, but he also knew that dragon scales were a key component in many potions.

Kuja had a number of preparations to make if he was to move to a more... private location. On the way back from one such excursion, he noted someone he never thought he would see again. In a flash of amused inspiration, Kuja approaches Xemnas.

"Well, our sole dignitary makes his appearance? Might I ask what caused the pleasure of having you among us?"

For irony, he spoke brightly, smiling like some simpering courtier. Kuja wasn't entirely sure what sort of person Xemnas was, so it was best to err on the side of pleasant to the point of being vapid. The role of fop served him well in Treno, for while others sneered at his holding a mirror to his face, rarely did they realize that such an instrument allowed him to observe unseen.

The man who stood before him was exceptionally gifted in appearance. It made him think of Marluxia, and, as such, he immediately went on guard. Those who so clearly relied upon their looks usually harbored something more sinister in his experience.

"A bit of fresh air was needed." It was difficult to air out the lab due its location. "And you are?"

Kuja made a grand bow, slightly more ostentatious than his usual greeting. Now that he's taken hold of a role, he found himself enjoying getting into it. Hopefully Xemnas's reaction will be telling, one way or another.

"Kuja King. Charmed to make your acquaintance at last."

He quirked an eyebrow, but nodded. "The pleasure," he began, the words sliding smoothly off his tongue, "is mine, I'm sure." He gestured to the space beside him, curious to see if Kuja would take the invitation - if he did, he'd be the first to do so.

"And what brings you out on such a fine day?"

Well, Mickey knew that Xemnas was around, obviously. But he had never expected to actually meet with the leader of Organization XIII just... walking around the street. It was kinda surreal, in a way. To the point where he didn't even say anything, just kept himself on guard in case the Superior of the Organization decided to do something. Like attack him.

"Little King," Xemnas said in greeting, not bothering to look at the mouse. His weapons were a thought away, as was the Mouse King's - neither had the advantage in that.

"Lovely weather."

Mickey turned his head to look over at Xemnas, keeping the scowl off of his face. "Yes, it is. For now."

He was really tired of people blaming the weather on him. He was powerful, true, but not even he could tell this world, I'd like spring. Otherwise the world would be in a perpetual state of winter.

"True," he said, almost wanting the weather to change to spite the damned Mouse. This is what he got for trying to have a civil conversation with an enemy.
