Instead of doing something like, well, working, Demyx had been thinking about heading out to the beach. Even if it was fairly cold, it was still the ocean, and there was nothing quite like being surrounded by your element -- especially given the alternative.

Stepping out of the hotel, he didn't really notice Xemnas, too busy humming under his breath. He was trying to compose something new, but the rhythm felt off; maybe because time seemed to be so messed up on this world.

The humming reached his ears immediately and he look down, taking the square in until he noticed Demyx. He knew that IX had appeared again - Xigbar had informed him of this during his weekly report - but he had not seen the other Nobody.

It didn't surprise him, however. Demyx was never one to seek out work.

Xemnas stood up and waited until Demyx reached him before nodding in greeting.

Stuck on the same part of his song, Demyx was frowning slightly to himself (all for show, of course) when the hair on the back of his neck began to stand up in the same way it did whenever something that was large and quite possibly capable of or trying to cause him some sort of bodily harm was around. Looking up, he managed to not walk too far into any personal space bubble Xemnas might have had, instead returning the nod with a crooked grin.

"Heyyy, Superior. Uh. Long time no see?"

Well, there went his plans for the beach.

Xemnas crooked his mouth into a mockery of a smile. "IX," he replied. "It has been some time."

He had never bothered to check on the other Nobody the last time he was in town and saw no need to do so with this one, either. However, appearances needed to be kept, and Xemnas was quite adept at doing so.

"You've not come by with your report."

It had been some time for Xemnas, anyway; Demyx could still remember the last time he'd seen the other Nobody. Then again, he could still remember dying, and that was a little more important, in his mind.

"Uh. My report. Right. I... actually had a question about that." It wasn't like he was going to different worlds, and he was fairly certain that Xemnas didn't actually give a damn about who washed what at the laundromat, but Demyx... well, he still wasn't really sure what was going on. "Other than like, I dunno, 'Hey, the White Mage Guild increased in size today' or 'I found a swarm of Sea Neons in the ocean, though you should know', what exactly do you want me to report... on?"

Xemnas merely stared at Demyx. For all of the reconnaissance missions Saix had sent the other Nobody on, he truly didn't have a clue about what was important to know.

"Your weekly reports should include information about movement, as well as any recently joined members." At the blank stare, Xemnas sighed. This is why he stayed cooped up in his mansion, he decided. He didn't have to explain every minute detail. "What people are talking about, whether they plan to revolt."

The same reason Xemnas stayed cooped up in his mansion was the same reason Demyx played up the brainless-and-confused act. He wanted to know every minute detail if it involved him in any way, shape, or form, but he couldn't very well go around asking for it. He'd followed blindly before, and while he probably wouldn't be any more motivated this time around, at least he could get a little more use out of it before Xemnas sent him off to die again.

"... so you really do want to know the details of what everyone's washing? Wait, revolt? What?"

Dealing with Demyx always made Xemnas question Xigbar's taste. Or, at the very least, sanity. It was times like this where Xemnas was certain that Xigbar harbored a grudge.

"What people are talking about, Demyx," he said patiently. "Unless the townspeople happen to be washing coats that belong to us, I do not need to know what color their undergarments are."

"Oh. Uh..." Rubbing the back of his head, he frowned slightly, thinking it over. He could do that. And maybe... hmm. Grinning slightly, he nodded.

"Sure, I can do that! Although, are we still supposed to wear these all the time, or should we try and be more... uh, subtle." Then again, he met Xigbar wearing that awful shirt, so maybe 'subtle' wasn't the right word for it.

"You may wear whatever you desire," he replied. So long as it is not those horrid things Xigbar calls shirts, he added silently.

"Have you anything to report?" He doubted it, but it was polite to ask, and he prided himself on being cordial.

"Is that why Xigbar's walking around looking like a rainbow threw up on him?" He was totally taking advantage of this, though. He was a musician -- time to look the part!

"Uh, let's see... I guess that depends on how much Xigbar told you about me showing up?" That was really about the only thing he could think of that was significant.

Xemnas shuddered. He hadn't seen Xigbar's newest... acquisition. He was still trying to invent a way to bleach his eyes from the polka dot chocobo shirt he mysteriously found.

"The last thing you remember was fading into oblivion." It sounded so much cooler than Xigbar's Demyx got owned by Sora.

There was a slight grin at the shudder. Xigbar's shirts really were awful. He was still trying to figure out how to get rid of the rest of them.

"Yeah. Showed up bleeding all over the place, and then this chick -- Fang -- showed up outta nowhere and gave me a Potion so I could actually walk through the desert. Then some sort of Heartless showed up and attacked her. She owned it, but it poisoned her, and then some other chick called Vanille showed up. Apparently they're from the same world. She healed us both and then I was able to get the three of us into town." Rubbing the back of his head, he shrugged. "That, uh... what's-his-face. Kefka. He was at the hotel with Xigbar. Apparently the chicks have some extra special magic or something; he was impressed by it, anyway." Demyx made a face. "'course, he was drunk."

The mention of Kefka's name made his ears perk. "Vanille and Fang?" he repeated. If they had caught Kefka's attention, then they would need to keep an eye on them.

"What kind of special magic? Did he specify?"

"Uh, he said Fang had magic "like a star" on her arm, and Vanille had it on her upper thigh. Also something about the gods or goddesses or whatever on his world had never given anyone magic like that. Granted, he started calling me 'Leviathan' and Xigbar 'Odin' after that, and then was talking about Odin reuniting with his princess, so he wasn't making a whole lot of sense. Vanille and Fang said something about fal'Cie, though. Whatever those are. And apparently they're not dead; they were pretty sure about that." It had been a pretty weird conversation, really. Demyx still wasn't sure what to think about Kefka, but he liked Vanille and Fang well enough -- though not well enough to risk Xemnas's punishment when he found out Demyx knew them. "What's up with that Kefka guy, anyway?"

Interesting. He had never heard of these fal'Cie - he would have to speak with this Vanille or Fang about them.

"Kefka is... unstable, magically," he told Demyx. Better to let him in on the information than have him try to get it himself. "He is far more powerful than even our dear Keyblade Master."
