I was glad to hear that, as his next book is like, what, two years late? Hope he's doing okay.

Just wanted to let you know -- the dogs were found! Thank God. They were, according to the lady who found them, in the middle of a field nowhere near anything about 5 miles from our house, huddled together in a snowbank. S has them at the vet right now.

for anyone who might be around our neck of the wood (can't think why anyone WOULD, but just in case), Rags and Liesl jumped the fence about 10 last night. We had let them out to go potty, and they were unsupervised for about 10 minutes. We spent most of the rest of the night looking for them, but no luck. We owe $3000 in taxes. We had really expected a refund, in light of 1) S having been laid off since October and 2) our bouncing bundle of deduction. However, S did work MOST of last year; apparently unemployment is taxed @ similar rates to SELF employment; and we lost our home office deduction (cf. (2) above :) ) That's a real kick in the gut.

Okay, suppose you were cleaning trash out of a rather steep dish and, being a fool, decided to try to climb OUT of the ditch by putting all of your weight on your left leg, whereupon you heard an ominous "pop" and had a blinding flash of pain -- and, since yesterday evening, can't put any weight at all on your left knee? Just a quick FYI for locals--Landon had a relapse and it moved into his eyes; took him in today and Dr. said it's a severe baterial infection. (Severe apparently does not equal serious; that is, it appears to be nothing to "worry about," but he basically would have stayed at a low level of illness for, like, ever if they hadn't FINALLY put him on ( Read more... )

a giant blue plastic robot that shot things? I remember getting one as a present--it was dark blue and made of, as I recall, a soft plastic material. It launched some kind of rockets or missile-type things and I remember the robot being really tall.
