He caught her prana signature before he caught her sight. Despite all the conflicting signals that he was being made marginally aware of in this new world, this particular one was... far more familiar.

It was a prana that he has already previously encountered, but... Different. Untainted - it was the prana of the Grail itself.

That was cause for mild shock. The Grail? Here? Yet it is conscious. Did a homunculus manage to house its powers AND retain their conscience? Even so, on a plane other than Fuyuki?

Interesting, to say the very least. He did not hesitate to walk towards that signal - and eventually, a rather familiar sight of a purple-haired girl came to be.

He knew her. Ever since she was a child, in fact, and spoke to her briefly again prior to the fifth war, as well. ...She is the vessel? But he witnessed Kirei getting hold of the Einzbern Homunculus and achieve that end with his own eyes. ...Is this yet another outcome of the Heaven's Feel that he was unaware of ( ... )

"Your mother knew him, I believe." He died a dog's death, not known to the ones he tried to save, nor known to the ones he considers enemies. Trying to fulfill a wish that would have destroyed him in the end, regardless of the outcome. "You've not heard of him?"

He sighed as he lazily ran a hand through his hair.

"Shall you inform me of your life here, or shall I waste effort, breath and time in telling you more of the Matou Sakura who lived to see both the fourth and fifth Heaven's feel, an existence that you have either forgotten or truly never experienced?"

"Is that so? Zouken Matou would likely beg to differ, I'm certain. Very well, since I've nothing else to occupy myself with here anyhow ( ... )

...

"Pah! A researcher? I question whether his experiments here are anything akin to what has been done to you and your uncle in Fuyuki. Regardless, whether you are familiar with the Grail or not, he adopted you for the war's purpose - to make you a Master, or the vessel itself. The Matous deploy crest worms, and from what Kirei has gathered, this grandfather of yours is no more than a despicable leech. Only a Matou would fully know the likely gruesome experience of housing these parasites within their bodies, which is likely what prompted your uncle to do what he did. He returned to Zouken, whom he rejected himself once before, and tried to bargain with him - in order to protect you, so that he may take your place. For you and your mother.

His attempt at sacrifice failed miserably."

He could go on, but finally decided to pause there for now and observe her reaction - for some reason that he himself honestly wasn't sure of.

Her disquiet was rather blatant.

"So? Did any of that sound familiar, or not?"

It would appear that this girl's fate is doomed regardless of where she is. Must have rank E- in Luck, huh. He frowned lightly as he raised a hand for her to stop - he's heard enough.

...No, that's not entirely true. He's just growing sick of watching her fidget, stutter, and act like a small, trapped and helpless animal.

"Cease this before you faint here, girl. Lest you are about to tell me that every instance of your existence here is spent as a lab rat, what else do you live for in this world?"

This time, his grunt of annoyance was audible.

"Perhaps I should simply find this research facility and raze it for you. Maybe then you would stand to live less miserably," he scoffed. ...It's not like he had anything better to do.

Gilgamesh never needed a reason to do anything. Boredom was more than ample justification for most of what he's done during his actual lifetme.

"They will find a place. Mongrels of the modern era are as resilient as cockroaches. Or would you truly prefer for things to remain as they are?"
