So the phd is underway. There are days when I'm excited, and there are days where I wonder if it's worth it, if I can do it at all, and if I'm completely screwed.

Sometimes I appreciate the opportunity. Most days I feel like quitting.

I think I just expect everything to fail. I ought to change that.

I think I have a fear of rejection and failure. Even when things look promising I tend to assume they will fail. Many times they don't, yet I still don't learn and I cannot bring myself to be more optimistic.

I wish I had more good news to write about. I should work on that...
