It was interesting, what medical care and good food could do to a person. Though she was still thin (and its possible, would always be) Hizashiko looked far better then she had just a few short months ago. She no longer looked like a diseased, ratty mess or like her bones were in danger of poking out of her skin. Her hair was well kept and looked

'That's a lie!' echoing softly through his every thought, Hinaji worked his way through the village, eyes downcast. There were a few times he nearly bumped into someone, and he barely dodged a fight with a drunken chuunin. Eventually though he found his footsteps echoing hollowly around him, and he glanced up at white walls and mednin passing by.
Why had he come to the hospital?
He turned to leave, exhausted and just wanting to sleep, when he paused and moved deeper into the building, his body seeming to move on its own. He gradually slowed outside her door, though, and then he heard the click as he pushed it open.

Settling on the bed and setting her book aside, she watched the young man. He looked tired and worn, like Hiasihko seemed to look lately, and there was anger in his movement as well. Hizashiko wondered what had brought this boy to her room, but she had a feeling it wasn't a good thing. For a moment she was afraid that something had happened to her sister, but she shoved that aside.
If something had happened to Hiashiko, Nejiko would have told her.
"You look very much like your father," Hizashiko said, to help ease the tense boy. "If I hadn't known who you were, I would have thought you a much younger version of Hiroshi-sama."

"I've heard before how much I look like him." His voice was quiet. "I don't remember him very well." He didn't like thinking back to when he was younger, either. There were too many bad memories.
"...How are you feeling? Are you being treated well?"

Deciding that Hinaji would get to his point eventually, she smiled a touch at his second questions. "I'm feeling far better then I was when I first arrived. I'm... looking forward to leaving the hospital soon. And I've been treated very well."
There was no use mentioning the ANBU HQ stay. The less that knew about that, the better- especially Nejiko. Even if she suspected, she didn't need to have her suspicions confirmed.

"Was she really happy?" Honestly all Hinaji remembered from his childhood was being pushed towards being the ideal Hyuuga, and being punished for failing that. No matter what Hizashiko said, it was hard to equate the harsh stares and hard words for love. But Hizashiko had no reason to lie to him, he was sure of that.
His shoulders shook and he quickly pulled away from her hand to get his emotions under control. He was already being an inconvenience; he didn't want to embarrass himself further.
"I couldn't meet her expectations, though..." He rubbed at his cheeks, trying to be discreet. "I always loved my mother. It hurt that she always looked so cold. I wanted to make her smile at me. But even though I couldn't...you're sure she doesn't hate me?"
He felt like a child needing reassurance.

White eyes finally lifted off the boy as he tried to discreetly cry. It was uncomfortable, and she wouldn't add to his shame by openly staring and wondering what was up with this child. Really though, there wasn't anything wrong with him. He simply wasn't his mother, like most everyone had expected ( ... )
