Because we do not foresee ourselves going to the East Coast very often we decided to maximise our time there by visiting nearby cities. My ever resourceful husband found a great tour package that met our needs. Even though it's only a 5D4N tour, we covered a lot of places within that time frame. I find that it is challenging to find good Thai cuisine in the States so much so that Stvn actually uses my Tom Yam Koong as a benchmark when we eat at the restaurant. NYC is divided into different neighbourhoods and the tour guide informed us that typically New Yorkers do not venture beyond 5 blocks radius of where they live. The reason is because each neighbourhood is self-contained thus there is no reason for them to do so. Spending half a day at Brooklyn was quite an interesting experience. We had a super enthusiastic tour guide (from Brooklyn of course), who clearly loved his hometown tremendously and keen to tell us all about the who's who from Brooklyn.
