20 year old female presented to the emergency department today with complaint of being misunderstood by her parents and being Korean in Longview, Washington. I was thinking about that the other day. It's one of those paradoxes about human behavior.

There might be other reasons why a person would act in a cruel manner. Perhaps they have a low capacity for empathy, they are insensitive, by which I mean simply oblivious to the suffering their behavior causes others. So they are unintentionally cruel ( Read more... )
