my wait-up-until

So I did a little internet research (thank you, Consumer Reports) and then stopped off at Best Buy last night after work, and now I will have a new Toshiba 32" LCD* television on Tuesday (which was the one I'd walked in looking for, so...), with a new blu-ray player (also the one I'd researched), both on sale, and they will take the old one away. I'm so happy for you. This is exactly the kind of thing I'd stress and worry about and when it turns out as easy as this I just want to cry with relief. Or celebrate with a burger. And I totally hear you on the freecycle/craigslist thing. To have a stranger come into my home is a big deal for me. I'd much rather it be a delivery person than someone random from the 'net.

And also -- NEW TV!! :-D

Yeah, I was like, I don't have to find four people who can help me carry this 200 lb behemoth out to the curb? I can just have delivery guys come and take it away for recycling? SIGN ME UP. So much relief. Like, I'm sure I'll worry about whether I can get teh whole set up hooked up properly at some point, but right now I'm just like, whew, I can get rid of the old tv.

And yes! This way, it's just a business transaction with a delivery person, not a fraught encounter with strangers from the internet.

I'm glad you seemed to have gotten it all worked out. It sounds like things are going smoother than what you were worried about.
I have to admit I am kind of jelly though. I've been dying to get a new tv but just can't afford it right now. The one I have is just..something like 20"x20" of a screen? It's not very big, and the back is huge and clunky so it takes up a lot of space.

Yeah, I was overly concerned, but that tends to be my nature. *g*

I know what you mean about big and clunky. The new ones are all sleek and thin and moveable. And the prices have really come down a lot.

Mine too, so I can understand that. XD

Exactly. And oh goodness really? I haven't looked in a while. Maybe when income tax return time rolls around I'll finally be able to nab one fdjksl.

I loooved Rivers of London! I was really excited to realize the third book wasn't the end - I adore Peter's dry sarcasm and Lesley's unwavering determination. (I don't get why they changed her name in the US version though...) remember that fake trailer for that aurors show? As it goes on the series starts reminding me a lot of it.

And the worldbuilding's just so awesome :)

I don't know? Maybe Lesley with an ey is more the masculine version of the name in the US?

But I really enjoyed it, and yes, I loved that she didn't just die, that she's still around, still giving Peter shit.

Thanks for the links. In reading up before hand, I did discover that plasma is supposed to be best, but is way out of my price range, and that LED will be more saturated/brighter than plain LCD, so I don't feel too terrible about my choice, especially since it was under $300. But I will definitely be looking at the settings when I get it. I usually leave my TV on the 'movie' setting, except when shows are so dark I have to use the 'vivid' setting because otherwise it's just a muddy inexplicable mess. (Yes, s1 Supernatural, I'm looking at you.)
