Mal and Dean! They are glorious! I, too, have a fondness for a man who gets shit done.

Also, thank you for that link.

With the apocalypse arc, it was meant to widen out the story, but it just narrowed the whole story down to Winchesters & associates, and the people they saved became faceless, aggregate, instead of individuals, and that's a less interesting story to me, week in and week out.

Funny you should mention this; they're playing old SPN episodes on TNT, and right now, the episode Night Shifter is on. This episode has always stuck in my head because of Ronald, the guy who thought the shapeshifter was a Mandroid because of the "laser eyes," and who accused Sam and Dean of working for the Men in Black. I thought the Ronald character was awesome, as were so many of the MotW victims, and the writers really got away from that when the mytharc got so topheavy. I'm really hoping for a return to saving people! Hunting things! The family business! next season.

Yeah, I'm hoping that's what they mean when they say they're going back to basics for s6. Saving people! Hunting things! The family business!

Mal and Dean are in a lot ways very similar characters -- I was watching some Firefly and Serenity recently and I turned to someone said -- You know, Mal's a Winchester. Even though he came first, LOL.

I miss writing Mal. He definitely had a certain style of speaking that I enjoyed writing.

I miss the language of Firefly too, you can sometimes put similiar rhythms and metaphors in SPN fic but it's not really same as the whole language they developed for FIrefly that just really worked. If I get into a mood to just listen to great Dialogue I either put in Firefly or West Wing.

They have some similarities, especially if you replace 'family' with 'crew'. *g* And they do love their vehicles.

Hee! I thought it was a local NY/NJ area show, since almost no one not from around here has heard of it. Are you from around these parts?

Yeah, that's why. I only discovered a couple of years ago that it was local. Also, apparently it was out on DVD for a while - I don't know if it's still available, but it was mighty tempting at the time.

The swings! the sunflowers! The closing theme song!

Let's see. There's Josh Lyman and Toby Ziegler. Leo McGarry. Dan Rydell. Xander Harris. Rupert Giles. Luke Danes. Alec McDowell. Alec Hardison. Matt Saracen. Tim Riggins (!). Eric Taylor. Keith Mars. Hawkeye Pierce. Frank Pembleton. Meldrick Lewis. Mike Kellerman. Karl "Helo" Agathon. Sam Winchester.

I finished this paragraph and went "WTF NO MAL?! Who are you and what have you done with musesfool?"

And then I read the next part and was greatly relieved. *g*
