The holiday weekend was fun but busy. I left for Dom's on Saturday around 12:30 pm, got stuck in crosstown traffic and almost missed my train, hung out with various cousins etc. at Nicole's graduation party, did not get sucked into any political conversation (\o/), and ate a lot of excellent food ( Read more... )

I spent the past two Mother's Days (since my mother died) getting my hair did, as that seemed like a nice way to avoid the hype and do something nice for myself, but also not sit around wallowing. So there are now little signs on the registers at my regular Starbucks that say: "Warning: this item may contain more than the RDA of sodium" and while I'm sure it's supposed to be for the food, my first thought was "oh, the baristas think they're salty."
