nah, he's taller, and at least for a little while longer, has more hair ;-)

(although if you'd like to discuss collecting the perks that go with Being Matthew, i'm happy to have that conversation... *weg*)

Are you going to be at KG?

certainly not this year; we fly out for scotland on friday the 3rd. and now that the dates for pennsic have shifted forward by a week, KG falls squarely into the middle of it, so i dunno when i'll be able to finally make it to one :(

i'll try not to take your innocent-sounding question as any indication that maybe i should get my hopes up for... things :)

"the problems are most likely to arise when he gives me a very specific timeline for something, then fails to follow the timeline as set. for me, it becomes an internal battle between wanting to believe that he'll actually be where he's indicated he'll be at the time he's indicated, and the internal cynic who refuses to believe matthew will ever be on time for anything unless forced to it"

lots of understanding nodding over here...Chris is *quite* similar in his flexibility where the space-time continuum is concerned. Truckloads of salt too :)

got nuthing' past that - just a profound sense of empathy.

Huh.

Interesting.

Other thoughts, but I don't know as I can put them into words here.

I don't know whether it is strange or not, but I hate having someone come home extra early just as much as extra late. I HATE HATE HATE not being kept aware of what is going on.

I certainly fall more towards the Matthew end of the spectrum. I believe I have been referred to "like as the wind" by some of our mutual friend(s ( ... )

My cell phone has become my best friend. And really it would be my responsibility (the absentee) to call.

I do think the presence/absence of one changes things. I also think people who have one often do not understand that others do not.

This is a good point. I base my statements on interactions where cell/email/txt/etc somehow is nearly always an option, and lack of such ("I had no signal and didn't get your vm") is usually an acceptable reason to forego notification.

However, as presence of communication devices is usual for me, that means that when there is absence, I would work a little harder from the onset to ensure that either expectations are set more loosely to begin with, or there is less chance of unexpected change.

Matthew is fairly open with his scheduling, which causes conflict, and your response/resolution is to categorize, label, and specify his scheduling deficiency and the appropriate resolution or response. Isn't that level of organization and categorization of his timelessness a bit of a juxtaposition to the problem?

hrm. i have absolutely no idea what you mean by this. i have no issue with him being open with his scheduling, if that's how he has deliberately shaped my expectations. the issues arise when he *very specifically* gives me an explicit schedule, then fails to keep to it as he has said he would, and does not communicate the change in explicit schedule. i have no idea what you mean by "organization and categorization" being "a juxtaposition to the problem" - feel free to elaborate :)

As far as the caring parity/response parity thing goes, it sounds like what you want to communicate to Matthew is you would like to rank higher in his list of personal priorities and needs.yes, and no :) what i would like is for matthew himself ( ... )
