I just got back from dinner at Craft Los Angeles, and my stomach and taste buds are so happy. Earlier today I wasn't sure if I wanted to go, as I was in the mood for easy comfort food, but I'm so glad we went and indulged in one of the best meals I've ever had.

Today started with an email about what the university plans to do about the budget cuts, which included options of across the board pay cuts and furloughs. Everyone knew it was coming, but it's still a bit of a shock to see iminent possibilities. What sucks for me is I make $500 over the cut off to have half the pay cut (4% vs. 8%). I just got back from donating blood. At UCLA, as I'm sure around the world, they are in constant need for blood, especially as it is a trauma hospital, and also treats many patients who need bone marrow transplants and such. Apparently one heart transfusion can knock out their whole supply of blood. I used to organize blood drives back in high ( Read more... )

Went to the dentist today and had a porcelain onlay put in to fill a cavity. I always get freaked out by the dentist, more by the sound of the drill than anything else. He started by taking out the temporary filling, and half way through I insisted on being numbed. After that I was fine, and now I don't have to go back until November ( Read more... )

Last night at UCLA, I swear I saw 2 raccoons the size of dogs! Not Chihuahuas, but like small medium sized dogs! In fact I thought they were dogs, but then they ran across the street into the bushes.
