Strawberry Festival

Today I convinced my husband to take me to the Strawberry Festival in Oxnard. I was looking forward to strawberry foods, strawberry themed games, rides, crafts, etc.

It took us an hour to drive there, and then an hour to park. While there was some strawberry food (strawberry nachos, strawberry pizza, strawberry shortcake) the rest of the food was regular fair food (kettle korn, corn dogs, turkey legs, roasted corn, etc.) I'm all for fair food, but I was hoping for a little more interesting strawberry food. All the strawberry food seemed to have strawberries (fresh, and frozen in sugar syrup) and whipped cream, and some sort of sweet pastry like thing. I thought there would be some creative savory foods with strawberries. Also, it was mostly vendors selling crafts that had nothing to do with strawberries. Suffice it to say, I was a disappointed. But live and learn.

We did leave with a half flat of strawberries, so I'll try to be creative on my own and use those strawberries in everything I can think of.
