Budget crisis and life events

Today started with an email about what the university plans to do about the budget cuts, which included options of across the board pay cuts and furloughs. Everyone knew it was coming, but it's still a bit of a shock to see iminent possibilities. What sucks for me is I make $500 over the cut off to have half the pay cut (4% vs. 8%). Already I was screwed with the higher copays for health benefits, which cost me more for that than the difference of a smaller salary with the lower copays. I'd say life is cruel, but I know I shouldn't complain. I HAVE a job, where a lot of people don't. I HAVE health benefits, where a lot of people don't.

But suffice it to say, the atmosphere on campus today is a lot like my icon. And I hear that even after the 8% cuts, they'll still need to find another $40 million to cut!

On the bright side, it's a beautiful day. Today they were filming Greek on campus. So when you see "Cyprus Rhodes University" that's UCLA! Earlier this week it was Heros. I don't watch either of those shows, so I didn't stalk the sets.

I had lunch yesterday with an old coworker who is PREGNANT! I feel like my life is exploding with babies. It's the age that me and my friends are at. Time to settle down, buy homes and reproduce. In other words, become adults. Not sure I'm ready for that, but the house hunt is on... and the reproduction...well, we'll see.
