The always-awesome Cyrus will be coming over sometime this week to help me fix my bike! Until then, I have been staying around the house. I was meaning to take a walk all day, but I haven't done it yet. Argh. I discovered this some time ago and YouTube, and really dug it. It's annoyingly catchy and addictive, and come on - hobbits. So I know it's kind of old news now, but for awhile it was totally a meme, wasn't it? Sometimes I still get it stuck in my head, and I never before knew why. . . UNTIL NOW.

afternoon tea in Berkeley
Today I took Mom to the Imperial Tea Court in Berkeley for lunch. It was a truly delightful experience! When I was in China, one of the books I read as we spent hours on buses was Robin McKinley's Deerskin, which is about a princess who has a large deerhound, and since then I have had a pretty romanticized view of large dogs. Oooh! I really want to get fit, I do! But Summer is such a difficult time, isn't it? All I want to do is eat ice-cream! It's particularly difficult because my mom keeps buying the stuff.
