WTF?!  Where did this mini-blizzard come from?!?  In the space of 20 minutes, it went from almost sunny to dark, with completely snow-covered sidewalks, and even some snow sticking to the road!

Well, the storm has gone through, and there's 8 inches of snow in my yard now.  (That's not an estimate; I went out with a ruler.)  I'm not certain whether the few flakes I'm still seeing in the air is new stuff falling, or just old stuff being blown around ( Read more... )

One of the coolest things about snow is how it catches and reflects all the ambient light, and makes it really bright out at night.

And on that thought, I think I will head to bed.

We hadn't been going to be home all weekend, so we didn't have much in the way of comestibles left.  So once I had thoroughly woken up (that is to say, about three hours after I got out of bed), ( I went grocery shopping. )

The system blew through much faster than expected, so there was a lot less nasty precipitation than feared, but scraping the windows still wasn't pretty.  Freezing rain, yecccchh!!!  At least it was a fairly thin layer of ice.

Got to work on time, though.  dr_zrfq deserves a sainthood or something for being my winter-weather taxi service.

They mentioned the "S" word in the weather forecast.

We were thinking about just packing and so on Wednesday, and driving up to Allentown Thursday morning, since killernurd has a 10:00am interview Wednesday so we couldn't possibly get out before the worst of the traffic - but even Doug Hill mentioned the "S" word starting Wednesday evening, and I am not ( Read more... )
